"8 Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord and your God. Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance; the whole need no physician, but they that are sick; wherefore, little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin; wherefore the curse of Adam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them; and the law of circumcision is done away in me. 9 And after this manner did the Holy Ghost manifest the word of God unto me; wherefore, my beloved son, I know that it is solemn mockery before God, that ye should baptize little children. 10 Behold I say unto you that this thing shall ye teach—repentance and baptism unto those who are accountable and capable of committing sin; yea, teach parents that they must repent and be baptized, and humble themselves as their little children, and they shall all be saved with their little children. 11 And their little children need no repentance, neither baptism. Behold, baptism is unto repentance to the fulfilling the commandments unto the remission of sins."

Guys please help I can't understand and choose which to follow or trust.
Many say you need to repent before baptism, others say infant baptism counts.
Also, does the baptism as an infant count when you repent years after?

Wow! Anyone who says that an infant Baptism doesn't count. Such a person is denying the Bible's teaching on (1) Original Sin; (2) Salvation by Grace alone; (3) No one decides to become a Christ. Also, the man's logic is flawed. He is employing the use of an "argument from silence." In other words, just because it is not explicitly stated, it is not true. Well if the church used that logic then it would have to deny: (1) The Trinity; (2) Women can receive the Lord's Supper; (3) Jesus is God, etc.

I mean no offense when I say that the fact that Christians are still buying into this denial of Baptism is that they are woefully ignorant of a proper understanding of how to read the Bible. As one scholar put it, "The state of Christian understanding and knowledge of the Bible today is a mile wide but an inch deep."

Kyrie Eleison!

Babies are to be Baptized because of the original sin from Adam and Eve and very important because tomorrow is promised to no one. Therefore we do not know when we will die. So it is a real baptism “In the name of the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit”

I've been trying to work out baptisms for my son with my partner. She insists that there is probably a God and an after-life. But outright objects to it. I was worried I was doing something wrong by not baptizing him. But I hadn't thought of this. I always saw infant and child baptisms as dedicating children to Christ.

Here's what many Christians should know. "We are segregated". And each of us claims to be the best and the true church while we disregard others. Jesus only said 2 rules for Christians. Yet we seems to add a "Condition" where only baptism can mark the legality of a "Children of Christ". And so, baptism went from a simple "Jesus come out of the water" to technicality and so on and so on.
.
I'm a calvinist and I respect everyone POV on how a baptism should be. But for me (as well as many of my fellow Calvinist friends would believe), Baptism is a symbol of the authority of the Lord in one's self and a symbol of God's acceptance. At 8 days old, as of the customs in that time, Jesus was circumcised in order to become a Jew. Without doing this it was considered that one is not a Jew. He got circumcised because His parents are Jew and so they did it. Jesus Himself doesn't have to be circumcised to be recognized by God, because He is God Himself. Jesus however come to the earth to fulfill the Torah, and to fulfill the Torah, He should please the Father (John 8) by following the law. In Jesus time, children can come to Him without hindrance. Today, parents has the obligation to send children to God just like what Mary did to Jesus. And so the act of Baptism then became the symbol of one being recieved by God. Children or Adults. However, just like what this video said, to became one in God's kingdom, one must declare his/her faith to God. This is what Calvinist call "Confirmation". In Calvinism, we believe that every believers can only took the bread and wine after they trully confirm their faith, and trully be faithful to God. This only be reserved for adults or anyone that has the true intention and knowledge and old enough to be trully confrim their Christian faith. Jesus do not baptise Peter to be accepted, but Peter's faith. In fact, all of the 12 disciples was choosen by Jesus simply because they confirm to Jesus that they will follow Him.
.
So, it is not true to say child Baptism don't count. Wether you're a traditionalist, reformed, catholic, or charismatic, everyone has their understanding of Baptism rule. And everyone has basis of their understanding of the Baptism. Thats why we have something called "Theology". But all of us recognize that Water Baptism in the name of the Trinity is required for one to enter the kingdom of God. Thats it. For Jesus Himself didn't specify on the rule of the Baptism, we shouldn't judge or fight one another of the rule.

Just like in the old covenant was through circumcision.

This is the difference between the Orthodox Church, and many reformed denominations. Baptism is a sacrament that is renewed through repentance and through another sacrament, that being Confession.
For many protestant denominations and many within Western Christian thought, the intellect holds the highest premium, but what about those who do not have the mental capacity to make a decision for Christ? Too bad for them?
Also, Baptism is the new circumsicion, and recall from Scripture, were infants ever circumsiced?
The thing that brought me to Orthodox Christianity was the Church Fathers. If you think you have things more right than them, you might want to reconsider.
Christ be with you all, and may He be with those who are babes in the faith such as Kat Von D.

‬ ‭ “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”

It is nothing we do in Baptist don’t make it into a work. It’s Grace poured upon us and the gift of the Holy Spirit! It is truly amazing when an infant is baptized! And for anyone who has been baptized as an infant or child you should not be baptized again as the Bible says one Baptism! Unless you weren’t baptized in the” name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit”. As the Bible instructs

I recently changed my belief on this. Children of believers have always been included among God’s covenant community. Sense the NT doesn’t tell us “baptize your babies” or “your children are no longer included. Don’t baptize them”, we should assume continuity. We are told what has changed in the new covenant, but there’s not one word of children being excluded now and the sign of the covenant being withheld from them. If children of believers where suddenly excluded, I’m pretty sure there would have been some discussion about that in the NT. We aren’t told the children of believers are out. In fact, we are told that children of at least 1 believer in a marriage are considered holy, otherwise they would be unclean.

1. The bible places one Baptism at the same level of importance as one faith & one God (ephesians 4.6). Flee from rebaptism.
2 Babies have faith. Examples in the bible include St. John the Baptist leaping in his mother's womb, or how Jesus Christ in Matthew 18 uses little children as examples of faith.
3. Faith is not a free will choice (John. 6.44), it is a gift of God (ephesians 2.8) given to all who He predestinates out of the counsel of HIS free will (ephesians 1.11), which can include infants.
4. Apostles baptised whole families (acts 16.33).
