It would be interesting if someone studied the rise of warhammer 40k in this cultural context: with the fall of our democratic values, do we turn to media who tell us that war is not only part of our lives but is a necessity and inevitable?

I love how the creators collectively decided to come up with the silliest names for their special gfuel.

What's interesting about the tech-priests, is that something similar has been sort of suggested for nuclear tech, at least with managing the waste. The concept is that few things really endure in human history. The oldest things still in existence are religions, with Judaism probably as the longest cohesive tradition kept. If you need something that can last for tens of thousands of years, as you would with nuclear safety, some argued having a sort of nuclear priesthood might be the way to go. That they'll have traditions and rites that last long after every norm we have today.

Particularly with symbols this was thought to be useful. Skulls used to represent danger like minefields, but now are often associated with pirates (the fun Jack Sparrow kind, not the real kind). The Red-Blue-Yellow warning code for chemicals is arbitrary and no guarantee it would survive. Religious symbols though? Those have stayed fairly steady. A Star of David or Crucifix has represented its religion for millennia. They're not impervious though. A certain German party in the 30s and 40s took what was otherwise a religious and good luck symbol and forever changed its meaning. Still though, religious symbols may be among the few things that can last on the time scale of nuclear waste.

Im new to the whole warhammer 40k lore. I really enjoy these video where it very digestable to watch. But I wonder had no one ever come up with the theory. The emperor was just another God, that the human made kinda like Slaanesh. The Emperor would have to be a human like god cause the dude fucked it up by ONLY having sons. Thats has imprefect human God written all over it. (Also let me be clear I meant it before the cultist took over and then started to parade his corpse around.)

Bricky kinda glossed over the "AI rebellion thing" but that's i think the main reason of Age of Strife, the AI is so god damn powerful that iirc Mankind and Eldar joined forces to fight them. And then warp storms happened and mankind is too far stretched out and far exhausted to think a solution so...they fall.

One thing to remember with Eldar debauchery: Eldar were effectively immortal and didnt go into the warp but were reincarnated. Their lives were just cycles and it was necessary for them to go to the extreme of each life, experience everything, do whatever. And with no consequence. If you killed someone, they would just come back again. There were no consequences
