Currently playing in the adventure as an Aurak Draconian Sorcerer. I was the only one in the group who was aware of the Dragonlance setting before (I hid it so well what with my small collection of books, Raistlin Majere as my discord icon, and my Goldmoon body pillow) thus the DM was comfy not having to do an introduction bit with me like the others. Other than that, we have only really done two sessions so far, so let's see how the world handles him.
ОтветитьDoesn't explain what Dragon Lance is or where it came from.
ОтветитьSome of us never left Dragonlance. Because some of us know that Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition did not need a successor.
ОтветитьIt’s like eragon. But deadlier
ОтветитьHaving had a chance to read the book, I have noticed that Wizards did something without realizing that makes Dragonlance THE MOST CONSEQUENTIAL D&D SETTING IN THE MULTIVERSE!!! In particular, It fails to specify the Krynn Pantheon as being distinct from the Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk Pantheons despite the similarities of some of the Deities...If anything, it goes out of its way to specifically state that Takhisis IS Tiamat and Paladine IS Bahamut...Those of you Familiar with the War of the Souls Trilogy can already see where I am going with this...
For those that aren't...Spoiler Warning for Dragons of a Vanished Moon (2002).
The last book of the War of the Souls ends with Paladine giving up his Godhood to take away the Godhood of Takhisis, maintaining Balance in Krynn's Cosmology. Takhisis is then promptly killed and Paladine wanders Krynn is his remaining life as a Mortal all during about 3.5 edition D&D...So by the wording used in Shadow of the Dragon Queen, Dragonlance is where Tiamat DIES and Bahamut chooses to spend his remaining days...technically meaning "Rise of Tiamat" and "Horde of the Dragon Queen" suddenly lack an antagonist too come to think of it...
...If only they gave the responsibility for the book to someone who actually knew the setting...
I hope D&D continue to bring out Dragonlance Books, following the Shadow of the Dragon Queen 👑.
ОтветитьAnyone else getting Red Hand of Doom vibes?
ОтветитьYou'd be buying this for the adventure, heard a lot of DMS complaining about lunar sorcerer, but personally I still don't think they're as stacked as gloom stalker, bear barb or twilight cleric.
Ответить"Draconians, humanoid dragon creatures!"
So.. Dragonborn?
when is a Dragonlance movie going to be made?
ОтветитьI got into DragonLance in the mid 80s when I was 10 yrs old, and i’ve never stopped loving it. I’ve read my 200+ books multiple times!
ОтветитьThe magic system for Dragonlance has to have a life draining factor of the user like to Raistlin if not then I will have to homebrew that.
ОтветитьSuch a shame this didn't get released as part of 5th edition. Really looking for good tips on running warfare.
ОтветитьSo this is set just before Hero's of the Lance?
ОтветитьHope they make more than one book cause I have to go back to 2e to do my ravenloft game cause the curse of strahd isn't long enough for my party right now they doing Vienna reborn.
Ответитьso this is before the original trilogy? or concurrent?
ОтветитьHonestly do not care for dragonlance, just another medieval fantasy setting, yawn 🥱 come back with something actually interesting next time
ОтветитьAs a DM, if I ran Dragonlance I would ban Kinder.
ОтветитьMy favorite is dark sun. And not sure if I would by a 5th Ed or one dnd book of it cause of past changed
ОтветитьThis will be my first D&D experience/purchase ever. I am here because of Dragonlance and the wonderful setting created by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
ОтветитьWill Draconians be lessened by the existence of Dragonborn?
ОтветитьI am curious if this is set during the time of the "One True God"...
ОтветитьYeah, nah, I'm making my players either read the Chronicles or sit through a whole bunch of lore dump. Every D&D player should already be familiar with Weis and Hickman anyway.
ОтветитьAh, yes, the Mages have retreated into their Kobolds of High School.
(Sorry, I had to, it was begging to...)
Didn't get the story, is it just "the rise of tiamat" but in dragonlance setting?
ОтветитьSolomnic Knights on Krynn - YES!!!!!
ОтветитьPlease don’t mess this up like you did Spelljammer.
ОтветитьAll I can say is, I sincerely hope that they allow you to play the adventure.
As I own darn near the entire DL campaign modules, I know that the original series pretty much forced you to play in sequence and follow the storyline in order to complete the campaign. You couldn't go off script. Which soured the game for myself snd my players.
I'll check it out, when it is released. May get it just for completeness, if nothing else.
✌
Lord Soth is the goat
That is all
Dragonlance is more about the dramatic side of things more so than war I would say.
ОтветитьAside fanservice what's the content. Sound like generic fantasy 101...
And honestly D&D doesn't fit that well for a low fantasy game,in my humble opinion.
** Will we have access to the new Classes through DND Beyond character creation on 22 November???
ОтветитьKrynn: We call it "The Catalysme"
Toril (Sword Coast): We call it , "a Tuesday"
\The biggest war in d&d history...... I think world of Greyhawk has that honor for the last 4 decades......
ОтветитьEyebrow's over pronunciation is very annoying.
ОтветитьDragonlance Chronicles were what brought me to D&D
ОтветитьI don’t know anything about Dragonlance, but I haven’t messed with war since Heroes of Battle in 3.5! I’m excited!
ОтветитьI have high hopes for this one based on what I've seen so far, but realize I've been disappointed before...
I read the original books and played the original modules back in the mid 80's, but after DL14 dropped, honestly the rest of the first edition releases were... uneven in quality at best. The Dragonlance Adventures hardcover was disappointing and limiting in a lot of ways. DL15 and DL16 had moments, but felt like a blender more than anything... and the less said about the later SAGA system the better...
Same sort of goes for the novels, the first six books (chronicles / legends) were excellent - then it was hit or miss as novels were farmed out to other authors to complete the various series with my finally putting the whole series aside after Hederick the Theocrat - with the worst usage of deus ex machina I've ever seen, and sadly Dragons of Summer Flame was the final nail in the coffin... it just felt too much like an unnecessary reboot...
Dragonlance is the best DnD setting
ОтветитьIf i ran into some lore that I had little to no knowledge of that I thought was important, I would google/wiki the lore in question.
Ответитьgosh. this dude doesnt inspire confidence
ОтветитьEstoy leyendo La Reina de la Oscuridad 😈
ОтветитьThis new ravenloft book is going to take place in an area of ravenloft we briefly mentioned but haven't really seen before, and it won't be Strahd or Castle Ravenloft, its different..... who thought this was a good idea for Dragonlance as a pitch????
ОтветитьCould the non-requirement on books, have to due with WotC killing the books, so you cant buy them….
ОтветитьIs there any art of the Heroes of the Lance in the new book? (Specially Tanis, Kit, Raistlin and Laurana)
ОтветитьSo this is important, as a DM does the book address certain race limitations from the lore, or is their an elegant way to allow all races. Say someone wants to play a Draagonborn... How do we approach this, as it seems you are starting at Year 2, so ... I guess you are not giving redefined Dragonborn as Draconians. Which was my guess until just now. And I 100% know that DMs and players will encounter issues with this.
ОтветитьHope they do a better job than with the Spelljammer book.
Ответитьkeep in mind all of you new D&D players... dragons of autumn twilight was the FIRST advanced dungeon and dragons adventure.. its what moved us from basic D&D to AD&D.. great setting.. go read all the books you will thank me later. dont know how this particular book is going to be (going on how crappy spelljammer was) but go back and look into D&D history and you will enjoy the krynn setting.
ОтветитьLORD SOTH!!!.......*has a nerdgasm*
ОтветитьBig emphasis on “you don’t need any background knowledge”, but let’s face it: the novels are a great story and the vast majority of people will be coming from them (or perhaps from the original D&D modules) to this new game. Lucky you if you go the other way, for the novels will be a revelation.
