The love interest at season 5 was so unnecessary and stupid. Along with most of season 5. the whole premise of the show is for him to find his way back home. They shoulda just stuck with that. And just made a last movie.

To be honest the end of season 4 should end with with the fight with the portal guardian. its the only fight jack loses and the portal itself shows the future of jack after his loss. They really should of called back to it in season 5.
