There is no direct correlation regarding illnesses in the children of two cousins ​​(unless there is a genetic problem present in both parents and so they can "passed" on to their childrens).

Yes, I realize that in many cultures, cousins will marry. Sadly, many of these cultures will not have genetic testing before contemplating marriage. My own family did use genetic testing before marriage to avoid possible catastrophic illnesses. This is not the same as eugenics -- we only tested to avoid having children born with illnesses that were untreatable and would cause lifelong suffering.

This is why the Hindus have such steict and specific rules for marriage. No marriage within the same gotra, for atleast 7 generations ancestors should not match, no marriage within people from the same village. No marriage within same clan (kul), not even within the same gurukul (school), or if even one of the parents from both sides have been to the same Gurukul as the family values and thoight process under a same Guru would be exactly the same. There should be diversity of not only genes, also of thought processes. This is what North Indians and most of South India has followed since time immemorial. Some South Indian Hindus have variation in culture but that is a local variation. North Indians are very very steict about it.

Muhammad (may Police be upon him) literally married his first cousin Zainab and the Qur'an neither prohibits nor does it explicitly promote cousin marriage. Muslims are indoctrinated since childhood to blindly emulate the actions of their prophet who's supposed to be the greatest human to have graced this planet. Hence, if you tell them your prophet was just a human and he did make mistakes and that first cousin marriage carries a significant genetic defect in the offspring, they'll call you an Islamophobe or even behead you.
