Metasynth - The Curious DAW From A Parallel Universe

sup guys, i wanna be prod, making different beats like carti or drake,so i can t choose daw for start, specifically, this convenience and low system requirements are important to me, because I don't spend so much time at home and use a PC, most often I use a laptop outside the house, so I have a question which daw to choose? I am considering Amped Studio, Soundation for myself, I would like to try fl studio, but I am afraid that the experience will be sad, since the laptop is only for work and the browser

Metasynth is indeed a great program but very similar sounds can be made with Coagula, which is free and works with Windows and has also been around since the 90’s. It has a different workflow. It is nice to have both Coagula and Metasynth though, because certain transformations are easier in one vs the other.

Can I also upload a photo of my cat for example and it will generate waves out of it and play it?

Forgot all about Metasynth, thanks for the reminder. I couldn't get it back then because I was on Windows. Now I too am being bitch slapped around by Apple, so I really ought to make it worth while again and get a Metasynth!

If folks missed the announcement, MetaSynth now runs native on Apple processors. You inspired me to jam against the Image Synth (as you did 24min in). Since Xx let's you play your MetaSynth Instruments via MIDI, played keyboards using the same MultiSampler the Image Synth was playing so sonically it all blended. Then used LoopBack to blend the outputs.

I used to use Metasynth for sound design in the 90s and with the new CTX I'm getting back into it. It's great to find a modern, up to date walkthrough to help me get reacquainted with amazing tool. Thank you for posting this.

Only thing this reminds me of is some of the examples in Pure Data for graphical scoring. Never delved into those patches but seeing it at work makes me wanna give it another look.

Hey man amazing software here, I love this. I have to ask you some questions and I hope they are useful for other people too !
1.Can you use your own sample on the image synth ?
2. It's possible to combine in effects rooms more effects and use them together ?
3. Can you use your personal sample also in the sequencer section ?
Wow at 20.23 seconds what is going on? Something amazing! Really nice moment !
I really like the work on the sampling sounds more organic which is a bit lacking naturally in the wavetable synth sometimes is a little bit to "could".

Can this 'synth' output the quantized 'tracks' as midi info to imput into another 'DAW' in order to use different sounds/synths and/or can Metasynth use different sound-engine/synth plugins?

Metasynth is the only reason that I own a Mac..... I used it extensively for the audio package I created for the Transformers Pinball game years ago. I've got to get back to it now that I updated to the new Mac mini. Great stuff for a sound designer.

the first portion is kinda like BeepMap in FL Studio but with a built in editor, very nice. the later stuff is very interesting indeed though.

Really seems like Metasynth needs animation support. Also vector graphic support. Of course it also needs Windows and Linux ports. Really though, it should be a VST…
