That first technique generally doesn't work out for me very well due to the bit of the sample that's cut with the snare/kick and never tried the second, I've stuck to beatmatching (by ear) and using a similar sounding snare/clap/kick ;but it's super limiting when it comes to usable samples.

This is an interesting technique and it's something I've been struggling with for years when it comes to removing drums from samples!!!!!!

Thanks! That's really clever, assigning "snipets" of audio to different pads, then playing those midi notes to assemble or edit the audio back together the way you want it.

dope technique.
sometimes i just keep the chops as they are w the drums in em, bc it can lead to cool polyrhythms when you compliment everything in the sample with your own drums

its cool to learn this technique. but the beat witht he sample snares in it sounds prett good, they were on beat

I use this technique every time. I learned this back in the early 90’s when I wasn’t even making sample based production.
