Honest Review of The Sims 4: Riviera Retreat + Cozy Bistro Kits

I’d love to buy these kits but as long as my game isn’t starting, what’s the point.

The pool stuff actually looks nice. I do wish you could interact with the waterfalls in some way like playing with them or something. I love Art Deco/Art Nouveau though since it's mostly for a restaurant/cafe and Dine Out is still broken for me (my Sims just never get their food) I might need to wait on it. It might pair with Realm of Magic stuff

That vintage poster from the bistro kit is everything! I love 1920s styled things and I feel like this is perfect!

Them naming one of the things after Romeo and Juliet makes me think that the world in the upcoming expansion pack might be Verona

these look really prettyy. i'm sad that the bar did not bring nectar and coffee into the base game, especially since the drink tray functions even though we don't have that in base game! but ig i was a bit too hopeful about the nectar and coffee thing, but then again, why advertise it that way T-T

i know the meme is using blues and yellows all the time but i am BEGGING for a build that uses all those beautiful greens in these new packs! in whatever kind of build!

The pergola has the same shadow for all variants… so the ones with greenerie around it have a shadow as they would have the fabric on it😅

Why don't we get these items in ALL wall sizes? The curtains, the arch, should be all heights.

Riviera Retreat Feels compatible with Oasis Springs, Desert Lux and Horse Ranch.

I didnt see anybody say it but "riviera" in italian means coast (i cant really explain it in english i dont think theres an actual traslation😭) and i do see how that would give rich italian beach house vibe. So ig this kit could easily pair with my wedding stories and its world. I really like the italian representation the sims team is giving but i think that it would be more effective if they wrote italia or italy somewhere or else no one actually knows what it is inspired by. 😭

Is the price the same as it used to be for kits? In Poland they're both 19,99PLN now, kits used to be for 24,99PLN

I tend to build houses and not really community lots... and I don't have Dine Out. One of my reasons for getting Get Together years ago was for the pool stuff, so I'm very interested in the Riviera Retreat and less in the Bistro Kit.

Are you people seriously paying 5 dollars for only 25 items????? You have got to be kidding me. That is such a waste of money. Id rather pay the 40 dollars and get actually decent content out of it. This is stupid

I feel very targeted by these two kits; I bought Bistro straightaway, and I'll probably have Riviera by the end of this evening because I am weak. I'm thinking glorious Italian restaurant in Tartosa, with that pergola over the outdoor seating at the back, looking over the beach.

I rarely buy kits because they never go on sale (and I can understand why, since they're only $5, but since we have so many kits at this point I don't think it would hurt EA to make kit bundles, sell 3 kits together for $12.99 or something). Anyhoo, these two kits look really nice as far as kits go.

I think the curtains look like that because they’re Moroccan inspired. In Morocco, the curtains and archways look like that in the more expensive resorts 😊

I’m soooo annoyed with the free log in rewards, I mean, it makes sense, but it’s so easy to miss out. And they shouldn’t be locking important things like traits behind a limited time only wall, never to be seen again. It would make more sense if the kits came out once a month, and they were free. But that doesn’t make sense either because of SDX drops. I don’t know how to feel, because free stuff is free stuff, but if you miss out, you’re never gonna get that stuff again and I don’t know how much I like that.

So I was super eager for both of these kits, I am more of a builder than a player, so any new build kit is my bag. I experienced the same issues that you did after purchasing in where they did not automatically download. As a matter of fact, once they did they still did not show up as available even thought it showed they were purchased. I love both kits, but agree that the stepping stones should have been just one stone of multiple sizes. Everything else I am excited to build with. I think the curtains in the Café Kit, are not supposed to go on the tops of the windows, but rather in the middle - ala Café Curtains usually do. I am really excited for the fountain rocks and pool trims. Some of them look VERY Lux - even more luxurious than the Lux kit that we got. Now it is time to update the Landgrabbs to actual luxury living instead of 7 people living in a three bedroom home with two bathrooms.... Happy Building! I'm generally against kits just on principle, but I'm not gonna lie, that pergola alone is worth the $5 to me. That thing is GORGEOUS.

My main complaint is that Dine Out is still So Broken and they're trying to sell something similar with no guarantees that any of their older content is going to function with or without the new stuff. Again.

I would love if they had a closed version of that open window arch in the bistro kit!
