Fluval FX6 Aquarium Canister Filter Overview & Setup

I bought the fx6 off Amazon, how come mine don't have a dial to remind me when to do changes.

2130l/h or 3500?

Would that be good for 125 Gallon Oscar tank?

I have 2 FX6 and an FX4 and ive had to replace the motors on all 3 of them atleast 3 times. The filter itself is amazing but the pumps are junk. And at 160 bucks each having to replace them about once a year is BS.

I'm not buying this product because my tank is way to small and this felt more like a pre rehersed school presentation that they were forced to do

Can it be placed beside the tank instead of bottom?

too bad they don't make also a inline CO2 diffuser and a in line heater for the FX4-FX6. FLUVAL WAKE-UP!!! I wrote them to inquire why not ...maybe if enough of us do they will!!!!

Why my fx6 doesn't have water change and filter change reminder?

there was a loose o ring on the bottom of the inside of the filter. dose it go in the grove in the bottom of the inside of the canister? and yes the lid dose have its o ring on

This must of been an early design of the cap of the FX6 since mine doesn't have the dials to set the month I set it up for cleaning.

Just setup My FX6 and the output seems to have low flow. The center trays are pretty packed with media.

Even fluval themselves missed the o-ring that goes under the cover!!. Lol

Skipped over important parts, waste.

Can you give me the exact dimensions of the media baskets? I want to know the diameter and depth. In metric if you please. I have some foam pieces laying around and want to know how they will fit.

I wish all the trays plus the top and the bottom had individual O rings to stop any bypass plus I would've designed the outsde foam section of the trays differently eliminate any bypass.
The designers probably made it that way so the pump would never run dry but it adds inefficiency . A few simple tweaks in the design and they would have really had something. It's not just Fluval, all the manufacturers do the same thing.They compromise on being an effective product for whatever reason and for me thats a non starter. I will go with a sump before I buy another canister filter. Unless they want me to help them redesign it and then open to discussion .

i purchased first fluval fx6 for my 125 gal

I have both your fx4 and fx6 on my 125 filters are great media has to change. I replaced all media that came with these filter. Also might wanna think about changing the plastic hose that comes with filters just food for thought 💭 great products price is alittle high but hey that’s life. Thinking of buying your uv sterilizer

FX6 IS THE BOMB, BUT you claim you supply all the media I will need., not. And tank that you are putting this filter on is probably a some what large tank, so you will be sticking a few larger fish or lots of small ones. So the media that is supplied is not sufficient to maintain the bacteria needed for a large or well stocked tank.

Add some good biological media to it its like a big sponge filter eheim does now we want an all american reliable filter with lots of filter media in it

Fluval filters are more useful, you may set up quickly and very good flow. Eheim filters are more successful in the biological filter.

I have one of your fluvial 400 L Fishtank it has a built in filter it came with a 406 I would love to upgrade it to the fx4 but I can’t seem to do it I’ve added the 25 mil to my system but it just leaks could you maybe do a video explaining for people who have got a built in system how to do it

quick question... This is the first video I have seen by Fluval Aquatics.... I saw how you attached the hose to the top of the tank, but I have a plastic rim that goes all the way around.. i believe mine is an Aqueon 75 gallon... I already have a Trigger Systems 39 Sapphire hooked up to my aquarium. I want to add a canister filter and it looks like this is the industry standard.......BUT, is there another way to assemble for a tank with a lip around the top? Have you produced other videos about this product? Link? thanks for your help

Hi thanks for the video, I am about to purchase the FX6 for an outdoor aquarium, I would like to have the glass bottom drilled so I can have the intake and out take hidden and coming through the floor instead of coming up over the back of the tank as its not very pleaseing to the eye. Can you tell me if this unit can work that way or will the pressure of all the water create an issue with the filer ?
