What about SVGA monitors that support 4:3 aspect resolutions?
ОтветитьAny chance on doing a future episode on Laser Projectors?
Just started looking into this, and I'm curious if this technology can be applied to retro gaming to recreate the native 240p signal to the point that old light guns will work, which would completely eliminate the need of a big CRT for my retro gaming set up.
so... i think CRT still is the best option for retro gaming? (if you can afford)
ОтветитьThe idea of a projector has always been something of a fantasy. I could see it being so perfect for large gatherings, or setting up some video outside.
ОтветитьDon’t get a screen. Just look into specific paints you can mix together yourself, with specific amounts of silver, etc that you can paint on your wall. Its a game changer for daytime viewing.
ОтветитьI actually got a D-Terminal cable for my PS3 and it has never looked sharper. I did have to fiddle with the display to get the image to work properly, but after that it was perfect
ОтветитьI recently purchased a InFocus Screenplay 7210 for a great price, but was wondering what M1-DA to HDMI converter you purchased to go with your projector?
ОтветитьSigh...I was already on the fence about projectors since we visited some family members that used a really cheap one for movies for their kids. It was cheap but impressive. This video, like the CRT vids are going to send me down another rabbit hole. and I LOVE IT!
ОтветитьThese Chinese handhelds are getting better every year. The main thing for me is I don't like the controls. They feel off. Also the build quality can be suspect. I'll stick to my Nvidia Shield TV for my emulation.
ОтветитьYou can't sit in front of a projector. But you can always move your seat closer to any other type of display. Why does this matter so much? Hold your cellphone 4 inches from your eyes and you should be able to figure it out.
ОтветитьGreat video, Try! I just recently pulled my old DLP out of figurative mothballs--Which probably should've been literal ones--to hook my newly acquired Super Famicom up to it. It's a BenQ PB8220. 2200 Lumens, 1024x768 native, Component, VGA, and RGBS input. Hell, even the built-in speaker--which I'd never used previously--is decent enough for just playing some SNES. I was impressed. I bought it new back in 2003 or 2004, and it was my primary TV until 2009. My only regret is that having it gave my sister justification to finagle my 27" Samsung CRT out of me, and now it's lost forever. (It was one of the ones so easy to RGB mod via the OSD chip I could probably do it blindfolded!) What's the least convoluted way to hook a SuFami up to an RGBS input in the form of a VGA port?
ОтветитьPeople who have a problem with that 'rainbow effect' are probably the same people who have a visceral hatred for chromatic aberration.
ОтветитьWait who would make a crt projector if its still fairly frequently gonna need to be replaced instead of making them have product support ykwis
ОтветитьYou don't live there? So is it a studio you film in?
ОтветитьSo I heard what you said that some games on the Switch are not all 1080p so can you show me the list that are 720p, 900p, and 1080p. Also in RGB 104 you said that to fix geometry issues I had to go to a hidden service menu so would you make a video about that or a comment? Also a spreadsheet about video compatibility for Switch games or a comment (which I just said that over there) they would be appreciated thanks!
ОтветитьI have been gaming on my Ben Q HT1085ST for a couple of years now and I love it!
ОтветитьWould love to hear your thoughts on Rear projection Tvs for retro gaming specifically the 8 and 16bit era consoles and micro computers.
Ответитьtry, for the last time, you are NOT a video file
ОтветитьI would love to get a Formovie Theater 4K projector as it's an Ultra Short Throw, has Dolby Vision (yes the first projector with Dolby Vision) and can go up to 150". Plus it's much easier to move around compared to a TV.
But it's not for me because it's usually $3,000 and as someone who likes to game on a TV/use it as a monitor for a PC emulation box, it has 34 ms of input lag and that's not acceptable. I'll stick with a regular OLED tv for now.
So displaying 1080p content on my 4k tv is not good it's washed out but it runs well fills the screen. And I heard there is like 4k gamer pro and 4k gamer 2021 for Wii u and Switch. So like can you give me the answer or you could buy it and make a video of it.
ОтветитьHell ya, Teddy Ruxpin!
ОтветитьI would love to get even the $30 projector you got but where I live there is no "cheap" Electronics and nothing like this at pawn shops.
ОтветитьI suffer from migraines, and I can only watch a dlp projector for about 20 minutes before the entire room is spinning. 😢
ОтветитьMy 4K HDR 120hz Optoma at 90" works GREAT!
ОтветитьThe fact that a gaming channel made the greatest projector deep-dive I’ve ever seen, is pretty funny.
ОтветитьMy Man 👍 He wanted to be a film's director as a Kid. Very well produced, congratulations!
ОтветитьI have a Epson EpiqVision EF-11 (laser projector) and I can say, at least with that one, I don't have any perceivable lag occurring when gaming on it. If I do perceive it, I really need to think to myself whether or not I'm thinking I see it, or if I'm actually seeing it.
With that being said, if you're someone who plays twitchy action shooters or bullet hell games, maybe it wouldn't be for you, but it seems to work quite well, and outputs a very crispy 1080p native signal. In fact, with the image processing it does (which I am normally NOT a fan of and you CAN turn it all off) the picture looks razor sharp. It's no ultra high quality projector, but it's very small, very quiet, and quite portable and bright. The biggest downside is that pew pew lasers are expensive, so this will definitely run more than a lamp based comparable projector, or LED projector. But they do last for at least 20k hours, so at least you're not spending hundreds in bulb replacements.
I highly recommend it.
The image quality looks absolutely amazing
ОтветитьYou should try to find a Sharp Elite LED TV. By far the one of if not the best LED TV's to ever come out. Great colors and can run any resolution you need up to 1080p.
ОтветитьGreat video, man! Thanks as always. I am actually looking into the X3000i which is the upgraded and better 750sti and Benq's newest gaming projector.
Question about the resolution though. I already have a 1080p HT2050a Benq with a retrotink 5x. Is there any benefit in picture clarity by going with a 4k pixel shifting 750sti, 1300i, or X3000i? Over the 1080p projector i already have?
I wasn't sure since the 5x can't output 4k anyway, so i would be sending 1080p anyway to the 4k projector. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this for some reason. Thank you!
Hey guys, if you want a projector just stick your tv out side facing the window and watch it indoors, its about the same experience
ОтветитьMovie theaters often used to have velvet on the walls. It was usually in a "non-ironed-down" double-pleat pattern and tacked with velvet wrapped trim-board at top and bottom, to hold it all in place. A bit like high-density, low-profile curtains. This dampened not only audible echo, but also "light echo". It doesn't even have to be black.. Brick red, forest green, charcoal grey; were all pretty common. Granted, that's some serious work to put into a side-side-side project...at someone else's house. lol. But, it does work well. Stage theaters do have to change out their velvet curtains every once-n-a-while, so you might be able to repurpose some, at or near no-cost. Just a thought.. Love the vids! :)
ОтветитьDid you test the projector with a fighting game? Is it smooth?
ОтветитьI have a dlp pocket projector that runs on android. The negative side is being limited to 480p native. I found for movies it’s amazing but the connection to Bluetooth and WiFi gives you many options. It runs on battery for 2.5 hrs which is enough for almost any movie but for retro games in a tent while camping, i don’t see much competition. Sure it’s not common but once you have it. You can’t imagine not having it. Android also means apps to tinker with on your projector. Mine had colors that were slightly off but with an app I corrected that easily. Pocket projectors typically don’t have options like that so you are stuck with what you see for the most part.
ОтветитьWhat do you mean. A house you dont live in?
ОтветитьYou are leaving SO much on the table in terms of picture quality by not using a screen and simply shining it on the wall. You would be amazed by the difference between shining any decent projector on the wall vs a semi decent screen. Even a home made one.
ОтветитьI love these guys ! Great job 👏🏽
ОтветитьIt's a tradeoff if your worried about blackness levels get a movie oriented projector if your worried about gaming and milliseconds matter get a gaming projector with low lag rates
ОтветитьI have a nice gaming PC, a nad surround system and a projector. But nah, I have way more fun on my 28 b&o crt with my classic games :)
ОтветитьI don't understand the techno parts bro. Are you saying we should hold onto old projectors the way we should have held onto CRTs?
ОтветитьVery detailed and informative video, thank you so much, i enjoyed watching it
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you! I just ordered the BenQ. Would you be willing to tell me what I'll need to buy to set it up for retro gaming? Looking to restart my console collection and play everything from NES up to PS2 and of course, newer stuff thru my PC.
ОтветитьI used a 1080p projector for years in my game room. Had a TV as my main screen then used a surround sound with two hdmi outs to split between the TV and the projector. I loved it. Was great for group games etc. Had black out film on my windows anyway so had no issues.
Ответитьany fixed pixel grid 4k display can perfectly show 1080p image, as long as its using integer scaling, and not some billinear, it'll look just as good as native 1080p, just that with less screen door effect
ОтветитьI use have a projector setup and I enjoyed having a 100 inch display in my bedroom. I started with a cheap 50 dollar DBPOWER 480p projector from Amazon. I wasn't impressed about it's image quality, so I began research more about projectors. I bought a Epson Powerlite 83+, I bought this projector for its 1024 X 768 native resolution, S-video, composite ports, cheap/abundant parts, and easy maintenance. Epson Powerlite 83+ was commonly used in schools and offices, so you can find them pretty cheap in the used market for 70 to 80 bucks. The lamp puts out 700 lummens and lasts about 1300 hours. The lamps cost 50 to 70 dollars to replace which is really cheap for a projector lamp. My 720p BenQ DLP projector lamp cost about 200 to 300 dollars to replace it only last 2000 hours at 1300 lumens. The reason why I don't use projectors anymore because they cost more operate than a TV and have a lower price to performance ratio compared to TVs.
