(945) Review: Sparrows New Single Lock Picks

Nice look at these... my love of big plastic handles blinded me to sparrows products for a while. But I have come to appreciate how awesome some of their profiles are (ssdev short hook, I'm talking about you!). I'd still love to see some hard plastic handles on them, but they are so useful that a few of their hooks are in my starting lineup. I definitely see a couple profiles here that look like they are worth some attention.

Do you have to sand the picks?

Possible to do a video using the full and half glide picks?

Low HD and High HD. This goes back to the Peterson Gem. Gem, as in Diamond. The Peterson Gem profile looks like a slightly raised half diamond. Small half diamond, but nevertheless, a half diamond. The "corner" of the Gem points upward like a half diamond. Sparrows Low HD = "low Half Diamond," and Sparrows High HD = high Half Diamond. It's just Sparrows answer to the Peterson Gem is all. The Attila and Tron are also in the "raised diamond" class of picks.

Even for Canadians these are priced good.
I am very glad Sparrows decided to sell single picks. I had fun creating my own first pick set with singles.
Like you say, it is great to be able to try one or two without buying the entire set. I am jonesing for a couple of the monstrums but only a couple, at this point, as a beginner.
I bought more tension wrenches than picks. I have only been using them for a couple of weeks but I really like what I got from Sparrows. I can not blame any of my problems on my tools. :)

Two and a half years late again

The number 3 is Sparrow's equivalent of the Peterson Gem. 3 years after this video, it's still only available in .25., as with most all of the "Monsturm" picks. It surprises me, because Sparrows gives Peterson a damned good run for the money - good competition. Wonder why Sparrows won't make Monsturm picks in thinner sizes?

I wish they made all the picks that they offer also in 15 thousandths

YES SPARROWS HARD PLASTIC HANDLES PLEASE!!!! You already know well pay the damn prices just give us what we CRAVE! Or maybe peterson could just sell handles with a ketchup packet of lube/superglue.

ok Mr. Bill I absolutely love Sparrows, Peterson, Multipick and all the other high quality picks and pick sets but how can I get my hands on a special Bosnian Bill Edition Custom Pick Set??? like a no bs trusty EDC kit with the most used and useful picks like a perfect lil go-to kit with your personal favs with your name on em, That would be awesome I'm sure all your fans would buy a set or two

Hey Bill mind doing a viddy on copying dimple keys by hand? Also how to impression them? I don't mean foil impressioning, I mean normal impressioning, the kind where you file off the key bit by bit to pick the lock. I've looked around and there's absolutely nothing on either of the topics out there - fill the gap!

Definitely loving sparrows. Picks are pretty smooth, thin, and strong. Only complaint would be that the handles are a little too thin. Otherwise, great stuff, guys

I made a pick pretty much identical to the #8 "lunatic". Just by chance the half diamond on the tip is formed ECAXTY like the space between the tips of key pins. In other words, it takes the guess work out of remembering what pin your on. Hopefully the #8 pick will do the same thing!

sorry trying to finish my comment.

the issue i am having is.. using them with my Southord st. 23 the Southord pick fits nicely into the lock. Now the sparrows short pick hits the pins except pin 5 is too high. The Peterson kit is either all too high or too short. Other locks, not a problem, oneof them will work nicely. But the Southord lock in a box has some crazy high low bitting that I never expected from a learning kit.

I have the Sparrows three pick set among other kits from them, also a larger Perterson kit. Now the issue I am experiencing at rhe moment.

Great review. I just got my first sparrows kit in. It is great. Peterson is still my first choice but wow, great quality for the cheap!

I will have a celebration party if I win this set. I love SPP style hook varieties like this.
