You really need to check out when Yoel and Mari went to Home Depot. i actually cried while watching.... Home improvement or building supplies with easy access where Cubans' don't made me cry.

I hate communism. The most evil idea humans have ever come up with. Hands down, responsible for the most pain and suffering in human history.

Everything free is not always good. They got free healthcare , free college . So everyone overthere is a professional , but why would you be a professional when everyone is a proffesional at the same thing , no jobs and if you have a job the goberment will say how much you get paid. Food wise also everyone is supposed to get the same amount of food , but when you get ration the food whats the point. Alot of people who are pro comunist or socialist outside these countries do not get it until they live in it.

They do not have this abundance in Cuba. And this is for the middle class not just the rich. Really the rich do not shop in bulk stores. I wonder. Does Europe have these kinds of stores.

had a Russian friend in High School in the 70's and when she took her mom to a supermarket she broke down and cried, now that was before Costco etc., so u can imagine what walking into a Home depot or such can do to a person emotionally when they've never experienced anything like it before. The US loses perspective of what it's really like to HAVE NOT.

it's not just a TV in the refrigerator, it's a computer where you can have a calendar, leave memos for family members, check the weather, etc... some of the newer ones track your stuff and generate a shopping list for you...

Americans who are born and raised here and never travel outside of the country really have no idea how good we have it here. It's usually those same people who complain about America. Go elsewhere, travel and educate yourselves, then you will come back with a completely new perspective and level of gratitude for all that America is. She's not perfect, but she's damn good.

Apples would be difficult to grow locally in Cuba, for climate reasons. The easiest way to get them would be to import them from somewhere temperate, like continental North America. Which is problematic both economically (because Cuba has very few exports) and politically (because embargo). Communism is very directly responsible for Cuba's perpetual shortages of essentials like meat and bread and milk and eggs. Imports from other climate zones, are a much less direct casualty. There's a lot more going on there, and foreign relations are correspondingly more relevant.

Costco is bulk products, just bigger sizes which you save on buying a lot of something.
Walmart is just a store that has all of the Costco items but not in bulk but still bigger than anywhere else.

It just breaks my heart so much that I live with such excess and others do not! I try and help our homeless when I can but I cannot fathom these places that don’t have basic things while we have a ridiculous amount. It makes me very sad and a little angry that we cannot just have open world boarders and share with others. I just don’t get it! Greed and evil people, unfortunately. 😢

A lot of people speak Spanish in the US. It's the 2nd most common after English. The US has no official language. People here speak whatever they want at home. And most kids study another language in school. Most of them never become fluent though. I took Spanish for a year and remember almost none of it lol. I never used it in my daily life. I still catch bits and pieces when it's spoken, but I can't read it at all... language is hard.

Costco is a Wholesale Club. Walmart is a standard retailer, but has their own version of a Wholesale retail space in their Sam's Club Stores. Wholesale stores have lower prices because they use purchasing power of buying in bulk to negotiate lower prices. Those are real Adidas. There are no fake brands in American stores. It would be illegal to sell counterfeit goods here.

The stark difference between capitalism and communism. Little would make me and most Americans happier than to see the Cuban people brought into the 21st Century and be able to live free and with all of the benefits of a free society. They are so close to us, yet so far away economically. So tragic. Walmart has it's own warehouse store in the form of Sam's Club. Sam's and Costco are so incredibly similar that if you were set down in the middle of one, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference without looking at the store brand names.

I totally understand the emotions of the man in the video. With that said though there are many Americans that cannot afford to fill their shopping carts; just because the food and supplies are available doesn't mean we can afford them. The abundance is overwhelming for poor people.of this nation also. What is disqusting is how much is thrown away in America. Companies like Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, etc are not allowed to donate anything they throw away, it has to go in the trash. They do not even let their own underpaid employees take discarded food home to their families. Imagine if poor countries had access to what America throws away; there would be no starvation.

Also i gotta let you know, spanish is the second most spoken language in the US. Many many millions of us have hispanic families and most of them speak spanish to some degree. In fact there are almost more Hispanics in the US than the entire population of the UK at 65 million. Most of our services are english/spanish to accommodate both speakers. Mari's parents are Cuban i believe.

Andre, the biggest surprise in this is that you have not shopped in Costco yourself - check out Costco’s in Spain, for example the one in Seville - you will see they have pretty much the same prices and much of the same selection everywhere. I have always felt I could live anywhere in the world that had a Costco. Google the Seville store for pictures and some prices. No comparison to other retailers.
