I think the boyfriend was just pretending to show remorse and give a fake apology. If you watch the video of him and sierra in the tent and him showing no remorse then and saying murdering Daniel was worth it then that completely contradicts his apology. So you're not sorry until your caught and standing before the judge on the day of your sentence? Sounds legit.
