Remember "OK Boomer"???? This was the condescending patronizing remark a Millennial made in 2009 to a BoomerIt which then became a mocking, disparaging catchphrase towards Boomers in 2015. Well, it's ringing a bit hollow now eh? Despite my generation's abject FAILURE in parenting, there are some of us Boomers who are OLD SCHOOL. We have a lot to offer Millennials who are struggling to cope. We lived through the nightmare of the Cold War, having to deal with the constant threat of nuclear anihilation. We lived through the nightmare of the late 1970's recession when employment and stagflation were at an all time miserable high and the country was in a malaise. So you disagree with me in that you think its far worse today? Okay, fair enough but the PRINCIPLES of life which got us through will also get you through. They ARE THE SAME no matter how bleake the outlook is. That has not changed and that's what we Boomers are here to help Millennials with. We faced tough times and perservered. We're not here to mock you or judge you - we are here to help...

I think a big reason for these problems is this generation was raises in daycare. Two working parents who wanted a child, but didn't want to "raise" it. Best schools, activities, but these kids never attached like we're supposed to when babies and young. In and out and daycare with revolving workers who don't have e an investment in your child's development. We need to start talking about just how devastating this model has been. Babies require closeness and proximity. It's what wires us for emotional health.

Another big problem is this generation has been indoctrinated into activism which for causes that are way out of their control. They are guilted for wanting to pursue what they truly desire if that doesn't entail saving the world or destroying the patriarchy. They have been in one word... i doctrinated. They aren't living their authentic lives... just the one that they've been programmed to believe is the one they are approved to follow. This is soul crushing... like good ol communism is.

I keep hearing that too: you are lazy, you need to try harder. I didnt had any support from family, from very violent family backgrounds, ran from pedofile parent. Ive been doing many kind of jobs, I wasnt that picky took something so I can take care of myself and pay the bills. Still keep trying to get job from companies I wanna work with its tough.. in generally they are not hiring now,
ofc can always think option if start own business someday.. maybe will. It just makes me angry when people say youre lazy etc when they have 0 clue what kind of terror or shit person

Yes, millennials are going to forever be unsatisfied with their jobs and relationships. When I think of the average 40 to 50 year old, they all love their marriages and love going to work!!! Maybe the participation trophies actually helped not crush our ego, and pushed us to want better for ourselves. Having more self esteem is actually not a bad thing. Believing you can achieve anything might actually be good. Idk maybe I should just shut up and go back to the coal mines

I'm a 31 year old millenial medical doctor who graduated at the age of 23. I'm now almost about to complete my specialty and far from being a kid. My parents didn't pay a dime for any of my "certificates" and I work crazy hours and put up with lots of mental stress. My mother a Boomer, raised me very strictly and I haven't got one dime off anyone since I joined the work force - PLUS send her money every now and then to support her retirement salary, even though she owns her own car AND a house.

What Gen X'ers need to realize, is that there isn't only one way of doing things, or one way to be, to feel complete, feel fulfilled, or achieve success.

Im working all my life, no drugs hazard or bad financial decisions. I still cant afford any house, my car is 2003year. Ok this is not america but EU but still... what the fuck wrong with boomers making videos like those. Just make taxes right. 1 home no tax or low tax. 2 home let say 2℅ of value per yer. 3 home 10%… 4 homes 50℅. And suddently there will be home for everybody, there will be new kids and so on. But nope. Beter take it all what its to take and just import imigrantas instead of see grandchildren. LOL what a generation

Yes, yes, these young adults have no agency of their own. It's everyone else' fault. Yes, employers are obligated to raise them like children. What hogwash. The greatest generation struggled through the depression only to have to fight two of the most evil, powerful military forces in history (ww2 Germany and Japan). They suffered through PTSD after saving the world without treatment. But I should feel bad for millennials. What B.S. Build character for goodness sake. The next generations will eat their lunch.

I'm sorry but I know how old Millennials are and work with many of them. The majority I know can't take constructive criticism, take everything personal, are too concerned with their feelings, and want harmony and no conflict. First of all constructive criticism means someone cares about you enough to say you can do better. They never learned or gripped an understanding that a person's actions are about that person not the Millennial. It's not all about you. And sorry who gives a shit about your feelings. Your feelings are your responsibility not mine. Harmony can be ok but real growth and change happens when there is conflict. I like when there is conflict because I am going to gain new perspective no matter the outcome. Also, Millennials are over complimentary and it's uncomfortable. If I give a compliment someone has gone above and beyond. I will never give a compliment just for participating in life. 😂

1993-1998 is zillennials, the cusp, which I'm part of. I may seem unfocused, and "lazy" but I'm not lazy. I think for myself, which makes me look like an entitled person but is not true. I've been through an abusive past, hence now I should protect myself & I deserve more than just that.
I have clinical ADHD+OCD, 2 opposite-spectrum mental condition. I'm a hard worker when I hyperfocus, even forgetting to eat.
I was told I'm organised & have full potential by many people. FYI I'm an ESTJ. I always follow the rules, but I get overwhelmed by 5 mins talk with my boss, it stresses me out. That is due to my ADHD. I'm majoring in biomed.
However, my problem with ADHD is that it makes it very hard for me to hold a job longer than 1 year.

Lots of comments think this is just the usual complaints about the young. This is some things very specific to people brought up under the "everyone is special, everyone is a winner" mindset which leads to very pathological and terrible behavior, apparently for life since even many in their 40s now have not grown out of it. Life is hard work and always has been. "Capitalism" doesn't require you to work to eat, physics and biology does that. In fact we need to work less hard than any time in human history for a better standard of living than any time in human history thanks to capitalism. But it's still working too hard for the entitlement generations. We need to return to parenting that values effort rather than just existing or things are going to start getting worse instead of better for the first time in generations.

i was with him but not at the end, i disagree wholeheartedly as someone born in 1983 and on the cusp of Generation X and Generation Y, not calling them millennials … i and everyone needs to find self reliance and self responsibility. if you don’t have good parents or good role models then its 100% your responsibility. if your over the age of 18, no one has to support you, you have the power of the whole internet and what is known as a library. you can find books and mentors yourself. Yes we got a bad hand but its our job to deal with it
