The news is in! Punxsutawney Phil predicts an early spring for 2019! Did you see your shadow this morning?

What's the difference between an Ego and a Self? Only a Fool doesn't have a Self, which is what Women like Men to be, because then they can use their own Ego to influence and control the Fool.

I think this is my favourite moment in the entire film

I wonder how long til the arguments begin after "getting the girl."

"He mirrored me like a pscyco to make me fall for him. Abusive jerk." She later tells everyone.

The premise of the movie is flawed. If Bill Murray as Phil Conners was waking up to relive the same day over again from the beginning, shouldn’t his memory of any and all recollections of the prior day be erased, and his memory of a new day also start all over again from the beginning? 🤔

Is there evidence of any Buddhist influences? Many lifetimes repeated until the end is either a Nirvana or a Hell? Each day in the film is a lifetime.

Phil has to learn and grow because there's nothing new on the radio or TV to keep him occupied. Perhaps we would awaken like that too without our social media feeds.

Also interesting to think that for so many of the events to have happened in the final day, it means that he made it a habit to do all of them every time no matter what.

To me the most impressive part is how the background characters have to replicate the exact same performance beat for beat for multiple takes

I love these videos, but if I am completely honest, they help me understand what makes a movie great more than they help me understand how to make a great movie. If I begin writing something, these lessons help me spot possible problems with it, but I believe that no matter how much learning you indulge yourself in, you can’t learn to be creative, you must be naturally gifted with it; and it just so happens that creativity is the most important skill when creating art.

There are plenty of things to appreciate about Groundhog Day. But what I most appreciate is that no matter how much Phil learned about Rita and kept applying that knowledge to draw closer to her, she nevertheless, resisted his sexual advances. It was a great way to show the purity and wholesomeness of her character.

For the movie to work, like Scrooge, Phil has to be basically a decent guy, his flaw expresses as selfishness and egoism, but when slapped across the face, he still holds the door open, a nice touch, which reveals the depth of the character within.
The film has to show there's someone to rescue, I think only Bill Murray can pull this sort of character off: the hurt male, masking his pain with cynicism, while wanting so desperately to be loved and loving.

One thing that I find interesting about this film is that technically, a version of Phil escapes from the loop every single day. The other characters in the loop are obviously not experiencing the same time loop, meaning that they will get to see the next day, and presumably there is a version of Phil there as well, who did whatever actions he did in the most recent version of the previous day. There would have to be thousands of alternate universes with different versions of Phil from every single repeat of Groundhog Day. Therefore, it could have been just random chance that Phil escaped when he did. I feel like I'm not explaining myself well...

What I learned from the movie is that as a man...take the time to focus on your purpose, better yourself, be the best version of yourself, be kind to others, read, learn new skills...that energy will attract people towards you. You can see how he tried to chase and seduce the woman and she finds him annoying but when he decided to focus on his errands(even rejecting her asking him out for coffee) she was attracted for him. Fellas do be those guys that want to learn to pick up artist to sleep with many women or just be nice to get what you want....be the one that focuses on his goal, knows himself and the right people will gravitate towards you.
