Affordable housing?! This is horrible! Won’t anyone think of the banks and landlords?

Is there an option to open this type of housing up to private development and investment? I feel like the private model, or a private - public partnership model, can work well in the United States once the zoning / parking restrictions in individual cities and municipalities are eliminated.

The harsh reality is that countries like Austria have the advantage of much MUCH smaller populations who pay much higher taxes, in which case social housing is a much more viable solution.

Anyone who expects something like this in a country as large as the United States from a government with a $33 trillion deficit is obviously not thinking clearly.
