Explicit? How? It’s like every other R&B video by a female artist since at least the early 2000s. Beyoncé is terrific and among the top 3 female vocalists in the world, but I don’t see the video as anything shocking or groundbreaking from a risqué point of view. Madonna did videos just as raunchy in the early 90s. Some of the teenage artists around 2000 did videos as provocative. I don’t know why Beyoncé gets picked on. I don’t consider it her best song, but if it empowers women, a song sung by a woman with obvious genetic gifts that many people in general don’t have, great.
