I'm shocked... I thought this was some metaphorical thing about communication or how families work... You're telling me, parents really commonly behave like this?! What the hell...? 😮

I am deaf as well but I got an Cochlear Implant and a hearing aid. My mother speaks a little sign language, she learned it for me. My father on the other hand didn't. He used to yell at me for ignoring him or something when I wasn't able to read his lips. My parents don't understand the diabilty of being deaf. I am in 11th grade now and it's very hard and I want to drop out, but my parents won't allow it.

I've known many primary schools with provision for sign language and support for the deaf, so the statistics shown were shocking.

I'm glad i never experienced anything like that

I'm not fully deaf, but I cannot distinguish sounds in noisy environments, I've had people ride bikes and scooters aggressively past me on sidewalks many times because I didn't "fu** move" out of their way. I've also had people be upset with me for "not paying attention" to what they are saying in noisy places like cafeterias and bars. Some people just aren't willing to event try to imagine the world from a different perspective than their own.

They only cared about whether Libby is doing good with lip reading or not, no one asked what Libby wanted to say.

Absolutely brilliant short film and acting. So many important messages to parents, schools and the wider community.
