So when I hit that Shazam button and it takes 5 seconds to find the song, how many collisions could the app have run into?

Unfortunately this app is retarded, I put music by the band rock Interpol to play and this app found only dance and electronic music, crazy app, needs to improve a lot, I complained to playstore support 👀 🫤

Shazam used to work much better in the past. Now it won’t find a track that’s playing loud enough without background noise and I have to try over and over 🤷🏻‍♀️

you can use it in the control center it is very good so it hears from your headphones so background noise does not interupt

My experience with Shazam was, and always is terrible. It genuinely always miss-recognises even the simplest of songs and you need to start from the beginning each time. On top of that, their range of songs is just as bad and if it isnt shitty widestream rap or whatever the hell else "most people" like, there is never a guarantee it will ever get the song right, let alone try to get it correct XD

On Pixel phones, they can listen ALL THE TIME and identify songs whenever they hear one that's in the database. And it is done only ON DEVICE, with no internet connection needed. Limited to a 10,000 song database, however.

There are some certain old school tunes of techno/trance rave of the 90's that I am desperately looking for, to know their names or titles. Their melodic tunes are in my mind, meaning I can only share them via voice recording to give an idea. There are 4 tunes I am looking for. Shazam is useless. No matter what type of music I try to get it to recognize, it gives me some eurobeat remix dj bullshit. It's also useless when trying to identify purely instrumental music. If Shazam would let you force it to search within just the genres you wanted and which YOU can specify, it would have a much better success rate, I think. Ever since Apple took over Shazam, i think the program actually got worse.

the second song is a copy of the first one. in a different language. all the instruments are almost the same. but even if you shazam tue instrument parts of these songs. it returns the accurate song. this actually blew me away. we were experimenting with app in the 2nd year of our CS engineering studies and it was super impressive.

Human memory also relies on emotion and abstract relationships. A program relying on an FFT is not AI. But with fingerprinting, and the probability that people using the service don’t know how to stress an algorithm, then Fourier analysis is a very good component to acoustic pattern recognition.
