2B in Soul Calibur 6 - More Guests Huh?

I pretty much agree with all you mention here. This announcement wasn't hype for me at all even as someone who played and enjoyed Nier Automata. But I also didn't fall in love with 2B like a lot of other people did. I would have preferred a returning character from the Soul Calibur franchise, mainly Setsuka or Cassandra. But if it makes more people buy the game, more power to Namco. SCVI is fun and more people should play.

LMFAO I didn't expect that intro. Nier Automata (and Nier) is great though it's not just hentai bait. Combat has a kind of 3d Ninja Gaiden/DmC feel(except no wallrunning, which would be sick) with bullet hell mixed in. The atmosphere is just amazing, some parts are beautiful, some give a real dystopian vibe in the visuals and music etc, they did a really good job with setting the mood. The story is interesting and shows multiple perspectives and timelines which gives an idea of how people (androids*) change by the situation they're in. It's one of few games I've actually been keen on following the story.

This makes sense to me - historical theme aside. People were most commonly creating her anyway. This is a good guest character imo, same with Geralt.

In my experience with other 2 fihgting games, guest characters actually not that good for community and skill. They are just for money , cuz there are a lot of ppl who already don't see fighting games as something u could actually invest your time for further feedback. And those ppl who might buy a game for guest char... just for that reason... they are either a crazy fans (fans of a person/character not a game) or casuals. Either way, they would not invest their time for it as much as competitive gamers, who try to achieve something.
So, mainly, the guest characters, are just to annoy actual competitive gamers. They give profit for developers and producers, but for proletary ...
Geese and Akuma of course are popular among competitive, but at least they are from other fighting games, and yet, there are alot of oldscool Tekken fans, that wants them dead.

Well said and I understand your points. However I think it's important to note that Soul Calibur as opposed to tekken has a history of guest characters so I expect them to implement them better than Tekken have. I also think it's better to take guests from franchises that aren't fighting games themselves because then you aren't forced to implement mechanics that don't fit in just because that's what they do in their original fighting games. Just my thoughts.

Complaining that we don't get off brand astaroth off brand cassandra or off brand seong mina and instead get an original character design for soul calibur is so weird to me. You could always just play soulcalibur 5 if you want to play SC5 characters.

I got completely hooked on the idea of buying SCVI when they revealed Geralt. I was on the fence before they revealed him and thought "well here's a character I can main!". Spoiler: I don't play Geralt now. I play Siegfried but I'm still very glad that Gary of River brought me into this game. I have the same feelings about 2B. I'm pretty sure there'll be a sizeable portion of players that will be brought in by her who don't necessarily play her exclusively. And that's good for the game.

To be (2b xd) fair 2B does kinda of make sense game play purpose at least. When you have things like noctis, akuma, geese, who change up the gameplay itself and are "annoying" to face it becomes a problem for a lot of people but in this case 2b is just another character with a sword, which fits into the game. In terms of aesthetics, if I didnt know what Nier was I would still think she made sense to be in the game, where as someone like Noctis just looks "weird." Yeah she is some futuristic android but she looks human and does give a feeling of "this doesnt look right."

I got to say,I'm missing original characters created for each individual series. First it was injustice 2 guest character edition,then tekken somewhat but this is becoming almost too standardized.

I love how you could actually put yourself on the shoes of a fan, but I also agree with you that maybe so many guest characters coming in when we're still a couple classic characters short is kind of weird, of course these characters will get some new people interested and maybe move some copies of the game but what are we left with when they leave ? hope it's not Noctis's brain dead combos/punishes/game plan again.
That said, I think Nier Automata actually suffers from the biggest case of "judged by the cover" that I've seen in recent memory, I mean Yoko Taro did something really clever, he placed a Sexy doll in a revealing outfit front and center to call the attention of the masses, just to bait and switch'em with a masterfully crafted story with deeply philosophical themes of existentialism and some of the most complex music pieces I've ever heard.
It sound like a bunch of nonsense but look up the lyrics and how they were made, it blew my mind to realize the fact that they tasked a group of composers and lyricists to write musical pieces based on certain languages and think how those languages would sound 1000 years into the future, the funny thing is the sounds are perfectly transferred to the point that it actually "sounds" like the supposed language, it's amazing.

Honestly, all these guest cameos just feel like one big cash grab. Its like they're creating excellent games (in both t7 and SC), but they're whoring the product out just to attract a new (usually casual) fanbase. Worst part is the devs blatantly ignore the "thematic universe" these characters exist in. My biggest gripe with that is that they just drop these characters into the game and dont even bother to tie them into the story. At the very least, we can say that Akuma is heavily integrated into the T7 story but Negan? Noctis? Where do they fit in? Nowhere. While Im glad that these inclusions MAY grow the community and whatnot, I just cant help but feel like they take away from the integrity of the core product. Cheapens it, even. I dunno. Just my 2 cents.

Ugh, the guest invasion attacked Soul Calibur and hit hard. Especially when some of the actual SC characters are still missing. At least in the others there was only one, and in SC4, where there were 3, most of the SC cast was there, unlike here.

Fighting game companies need to learn that only characters excite casuals, not gameplay. Making them “easy” or designing them “outside” of the game’s typical mechanics don’t have an effect on people buying the game for Geralt/Noctis/2B.

If you put Tony Soprano in Tekken, the sales would be the same whether he plays like a Mishima or Noctis.

Glad to hear your positive feedback. Even, if it's not your desired character. I think 2B is really good choice for SoulCalibur 6. First of all, becouse she has great fighting style and look stylistically fit into the game, if not sci fi drone, that follow and help her in fight, i could well have thought that 2B was character from SoulCalibur 6. Then, with 2B as guest character, just like with Geralt previous, we got new stage, which is pretty fantastic and needed, there are not so many of them, not like in SoulCalibur 3 , where we had 25 stages for example. Now we have at least half of them, so every new map for sure is great addition, together with new music, that was another entrancing side of the Nier Automata. If you like original slasher games, with great music and interesting lore, you definetly should try Nier Automata. In conclusion i think, we see more original characters from previous SoulCalibur games in future. Don't know if it going to be season pass 2 or dlc but we definetly must see them, i hope along with new stages. Yun Seong, Setsuka, Cassandra, Aeon, Rock, Amy, Hilde maybe someone else. But they must comeback.
