Hello! I am 52 years old and have had an irregular cycle for about a year and a half. Sometimes I have my period every month, every second month or even three months in between. How should I think and fast?

About a year ago I started having a whole list of symptoms that I linked to estrogen dominance. I still had my period pretty regularly, but heavy bleeding and lots of migraines. So I got myself on progesterone supplementation (cream & oil) and most of the symptoms disappeared. Only the migraines are still persistent, although not as frequent anymore. But also since then my sleeping went from bad to worse. From having the occasional night waking up and not being able to sleep for a couple of hours I'm now awake every night, and sometimes cannot go back to sleep at all from about 1-2am. I am seriously sleep deprived and whatever I tried so far does not work. I wake up with a racing heart and a racing mind that does not allow me to relax and shut off. I have anxiety attacks, my stress tolerance is virtually zero. I have been living under continuous emotional stress for the best part of the last 18 years, resulting in the separation from my husband last year - which was just another super stressor. I'm at a point where I just don't know anymore what to do to at least improve things to a decent level. I'm on a multitude of supplements, mainly for anxiety and stress and hormone balance. But for a while I felt like I'm looking at all the wrong places for a solution. It feels like I'm utterly tangled up in a spider web and don't know how to get out. I watched a bunch of your videos and your approach, your explanations sound sensible and I definitely want to give it a try. At the moment I do not have a menstrual cycle anymore, most likely because of the progesterone I'm taking. And I am very reluctant to stop this just now. I tried a few months ago and all the nasty symptoms came right up again. Which fasting schedule do you recommend for me to get started, and do you think I can wean myself off the progesterone? I would be very grateful for some advice because I fell like a zombie at the moment. .... sorry for the lengthy comment.

I did a 3 day fast right before I was supposed to get my period and never got it, that was a year ago and I still haven't gotten it back. I'm struggling with restricting/binging and sometimes just can't bring myself to eat the day after a binge.

What to do when I start fasting on 1 day of bleeding, then all the right fasting lengths up to day 20, then no fast up to day 30, but the no bleeding? Start again as if I had 1 bleeding day? And what to do if bleeding stats again mid-month?

ОтветитьOn the 1-10 day fast, the first one. Let’s say you do a 24 hour water fast. What do you do for the rest of the days? And then on the second one you said to fast for about 15 hours is that every day? Thank you so much!!

Day 1-10 fast EZ fast as long as you want
Day 11-15 keep fast under 15hrs autophogy when toxins dump ovulation
Day 15-19 longer fasting is easier....3 day water fast
Day 20 - cycle starting is no fasting trying to make progesterone to stay calm, do not create more cortisol at this time " no fast zone "
QUESTION... I'm confused. So we shouldn't fast when we get our period, wait until it's over? Is that day 1 through 10 (after our period)?

After watching Mindy, i ate after 12 hrs on Sat and on Mon, I'm hungry at 12 hrs (which rarely happens) and also 3 lbs heavier (guessing water retention). Anyone else not doing well with variation? I have a period although no longer clockwork like when i was in my 40s & i expect to stop cycling in the next year or so.
ОтветитьHey!! I feel like for days 20 forward I’ve heard you say different things. Some interview I thought you said it’s okay sometimes to do intermittent some times 13-15 hours during that time (week before period). Also what if you are taking a fast mimicking approach with butter coffee around hour 12-13… would it be ok during that time to go up til 15 if we feel good? Curious if doing fasting mimicking counts when it comes to this. Thanks ❤ do not want to ruin my hormones with this!

ОтветитьThat's funny, because I've been able to do 18-hour+ fasts every day for weeks now; often extending the fasts into 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 hours. I have a cycle, BTW. Last week, I did a 48-hour fast (for the first time in my life), broke it to eat a salad sandwich, and then immediately began another 48-hour fast (and somehow managed to complete it). Last Tuesday, August 22nd, I made a feeble attempt to do the 72-hour fast, but I gave up after 44 hours. Probably because I was/am only days away from my period. I wasn't hungry, but I started feeling very agitated (abnormal for me -- I'm even-keeled). I've kept up the daily 20-hour+ fasts since that day though. I did 21 hours yesterday. I'll keep trying to accomplish the 72-hour fast. I'll probably try it again next week.
