I'm checking my generator capacitor due to low voltage. It's showing it taking a charge and discharge like in this video. But could it still be a weak capacitor?
ОтветитьGood article/video, thanks.
ОтветитьVery nice video ,thanks!!!
ОтветитьThank you so much you made a video with my multimeter that I'm familiar with and explained it extremely well and did not leave out important details like every video I watch before yours! Thank you for being a human and a great instructor! Now I can fix my damn air conditioner LMAO thanks again!!!!
Ответитьreally good compare
Ответитьis it safe to reverse the polarity when checking the resistance on a small say 10v tantalum SMD capacitor?
Ответитьjust found your video, great video, thanks.
ОтветитьBest video that explains everything! Loved it. I had a cheap multimeter and thought I had the capacity setting. Nope! Your video explained it well. Might get a companion multimeter now, but this one will do for now.
ОтветитьThanks for this. This video was immensely helpful to me; as was your video on safely discharging your capacitor. 👍👍
ОтветитьVery helful video, thank you Mr. Richerd
ОтветитьGreat lesson. Came in handy. I don't understand the alligator clip concept though. Will it not read zero anyway if you clip the casing with leads? 🤔
ОтветитьUp at 3am 😂 he taught me way more than electronic in high school.....
ОтветитьMy meter really does not count. It flashes a couple numbers then instead on 1 it displays OL. Does this mean the capacitor is bad? It shows microfarad in range. Do i need another tester to show the numbers flashing?
ОтветитьI tested from common to fan and does't give any read the other one gives me read , should l replace the capacitor ?
Ответитьthank you so much
Ответитьnice job,im just lost cause i cant find my newer heat pump capacitor, its not even visible where all the wirings, can u give advise?thank you
ОтветитьGreat video, can you measure a loudspeaker air core inductor on the $20 multimeter?
ОтветитьYou made my work easier
ОтветитьHey there, I have the same meter. I was wondering if it's possible that a run capacitor can go bad when it's been sitting around. I always thought it be a good idea to keep a spare around. It has a small dent in it, somehow.
I changed it and the old and new is coming up with no readings. The fan pops up with a reading, but doesn't stay, but the Herm is showing me no numbers at all.
Should I just go buy a new capacitor?
Dude just tap it with a screw driver to discharge it be a man😂
ОтветитьThanks! Great video. Ruled out a bad capacitor on a furnace fan with my cheapo meter.
ОтветитьTanks for very simple
ОтветитьThanks buddy for a brilliant video, easy peasy for me to follow , well explained, thanks

Ответитьwhat if ohn test only rises slowly and doesn't 1 after 60 seconds with my fluke 116? Starts at 7 m ohm and only gets to 9m ohm. Its rated 80 uf and test out at 77.3 mf. So mf shows good but ohm not.
ОтветитьSeven dollars??!!?? Harbor Freight used to give the Cen-Tech multimeters away! I've got at least a half a dozen of them. Otherwise an excellent video including a test I found hard to track down.
Ответить5 + stars : searched subject so long before finding , explained everything , slept easy =]
ОтветитьWhat's up with all the videos where they say to set the multimeter to "MFD"? Yours doesn't have anything like that.
ОтветитьExcellent explanation Sir, thank You very much, It was really help me today.
And really appreciate if you can do a video, how to connect wires to the AC compressor.
Thank You
Very good presentation and the speech during the physical viewing of the test was way great.
THX
how do you test the micropherades?
ОтветитьVery good. Watched several videos but finally got this one that answered all my questions.
ОтветитьWhat if when you do a reverse capacitance test with the cheap ohm meter it doesn't go to zero and reverse it's polarity like it did for you when you swapped the leads around? Thanks.
ОтветитьGreat help 👍🏼
ОтветитьThanks, the video was very useful to me coz I got the small meter
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your knowledge brother. 👣🦘👍
Ответитьso what is the size of the capacitor? does the meter tell you that? Ok so i wasted 5 bucks on this meter and should've gotten a real meter
ОтветитьHow to fix a dryer, switch clicks but doesn't spin
ОтветитьBy marking it + and - is confusing, in an ac circuit.
ОтветитьBut does just ohm reading give a true representation of how much capacitance the capacitor has??
Will a weak capacitor not show ohms the go nothing on the meter??
Thanks! Was able to verify a bad cap! Saved me min $50-$150 to have some kid come check it & then try to overcharge me to replace it.
ОтветитьVery informational and nice explanation. Good video, thank you.
ОтветитьThis is great. Simple explanation for the novice. Very useful information to save some money when you can. Grateful for your time and experience. Subscribed :) Jesus bless.
ОтветитьThank You
ОтветитьCapacitor are cheep fit a new capacitor. Short out the capacitor your replacing it does not matter it the high current damages it, your replacing it anyway.
ОтветитьThanks for this, reversing the polarity helped me with using my cheap multimeter.
ОтветитьThank you for this video I learned a lot.
ОтветитьThis video was super helpful! Thanks for taking the time to make it!
ОтветитьMy brother told me to discharge the capacitor by putting it on my tongue. Should I listen to him? (Kidding of course.... very helpful vid as I wasn't sure if these cheap meters were good for this)
ОтветитьAn excellent training class...taught well. THANK YOU.
I'm old-school. I used to take a resistor wire with test prods on it's ends and short out the capacitor, and drain the case to terminal & then take a Tripplet 310 VOM Analog and and stick it across the terminals and watch the needle swing up and peak, and then slowly fall off. If it did that I checked terminal to ground casing. If that was ok and there wasn't any signs of puffing up, it was a good one and I would put the wires back on it and go to the next one.
