I tried making a clay pipe once after I found an old dúidin while digging a garden.
It was an interesting experience.
I just trial and errored my way through, I made the clay myself made wooden moulds built a very rudimentary pit for firing.
And yeah I don't smoke either.
tbh I don't smoke, but I might make one of these anyway just for cosplay purposes.
ОтветитьI can’t believe a channel like this exists! So much of what I’m beginning to find interesting, I can’t find here! What an inspiration, thank you for this
Ответить😆Hahahahahaha 😄 Wizards be blazin! 😁 They're just so high all the time they think they're doing amazing things. 😄 Hahahahahaha 😆
ОтветитьThe kind of pipe you made, the kind that Gandalf smokes as well as Aragorn, Gimli, Frodo, Sam, and Merry smoke, in real life, it’s called a Churchwarden pipe. And you did a fantastic job on it!!! Great work!!! As a Lord of the Rings fan, I like to call the tobacco pipe-weed, as it was called that by JRR Tolkien himself, who is the creator of Lord of the Rings.
Ответить"It'd be funny if they don't know magic. They're just so high all the time they think they're doing amazing things." Brilliant!
ОтветитьGood job oh wizard of wood 👍
ОтветитьHear me out
A wizard who stores his smoking pipe in his hat
The pipe is also his wand which he uses by gripping the fat end
bought "some" tobacco, pulls out huge bag.
ОтветитьVery nice...and yes I smoke a tobacco pipe
ОтветитьU can smoke herbs as well like lavender, mugwort which both help with sleep or mullen which detoxify
ОтветитьFun fact:
Though not explicitly stated in some "Grand Compendium of Pipe Shapes and Why," there is a school of thought wherein one of the practical reasons for developing these long-stemmed pipes revolved around keeping the hot tobacco ember farther away from scriptures and books. This allowed one to smoke with the pipe positioned in such a way as to lessen the likelihood that an errant breath or breeze would waft hot ember or acrid ash across the delicate parchment of the materials while reading/studying.
Bonus fun fact:
This is also one of the theories as to why the term "churchwarden" developed, which is the technical name for the family of pipes with small bowls and long, delicate stems commonly known as wizard pipes.
It was great to see you do this project with tools that are commonly found in home work shops. Great job.
ОтветитьGreat job and thank you for sharing how to. How was that first drag on the pipe? Looked like a lot of smoke and an quick edit haha. cough cough, works well, cough cough. Thanks again!!
ОтветитьQuestion, did the wood burn at all when you smoked from it? I ask cause that's a lot of heat and I wouldn't want it to degrade.
ОтветитьI recently commented on another video about you making a pipe. I should have known you already had. Great work! Hope to see this beauty more in future videos.
ОтветитьGandalf didn't smoke tobacco 😂
ОтветитьTop video.
ОтветитьI use bamboo for my stems, just gotta find the right shape though.
Ответить"It would be funny if they didn't know magic they're just so high all the time they think they're doing amazing things" Norse magic in a nutshell
Also if you don't want to smoke or underaged you can smoke a mix of peppermint & red raspberry leaves has some of the same properties of nicotine but non addictive and safer but still don't do it very often as you can still get tar on your lungs which is bad
You reading any discworld lately??
ОтветитьNice 😊
ОтветитьYou should make a block to hold all your knifes
ОтветитьI just discovered your channel and I love it. I know I'm 2 years late on this, but you should make a dedicated pocket inside the hat to store a bag of tobacco along with a little strap to secure the pipe.
ОтветитьI've been wanting to make my own churchwarden pipe (that's what that type of pipe is called), but the stem always stumped me. Of course, I didn't think to look online for any answers until I saw this. . . But now my quest begins! Again!
ОтветитьYou can put a incense cone into the bowl and light that if you want to have the effect of smoke while using the pipe.
ОтветитьIf you want to LARP with a pipe but don’t smoke, I’ve found that you can put a lit incense cone down in the bowl and it’ll send up a stream of smoke that looks great. You can even find incense that smells like pipe smoke. Just be sure to never actually put the end in your mouth and inhale, obviously.
ОтветитьHey, I loved your video and decided to make my own, so I'm wonderig where did you buy (?) wood for bowl and stem
ОтветитьA lot of wood types are not healthy to smoke, I'd only use this as a prop, or to impress girls (or guys, I'm not judging)
ОтветитьIf you don't make that book!
Ответитьnice👌👌👌
ОтветитьGay
ОтветитьThis is gonna be damn helpful when I get around to making a pipe for a friend of mine for his birthday.
ОтветитьIs that olive wood for the bowl?
ОтветитьOne does not simply make a pipe.
ОтветитьI would really like to see you put together a vampire hunter bandolier! Love what your doing keep it up.
Ответитьfor the future, I recommend drilling a hole through a long piece of wood, boiling it, then putting it in a jig to bend it for the stem (with something in it to keep the hole open) it may not get THAT hot, but since glue is essentially plastic I wouldn't want it too close to my fire
ОтветитьWizards Be blazing all the Time lol
ОтветитьThis has always stumped me. Like woodworking, but where do you buy wood like that??? Those small pieces of stable stock that are special kinds of wood
ОтветитьWhen I think of a wizard, I think of a sweet old man in a cabin that looks really small but is actually really big. He is working on some spells while smoking on his pipe. Maybe teaching his grandson or granddaughter some spells!
ОтветитьPipe smoker here. Yes, pipe smoke can very sweet depending on the tobacco blending. It can also be infused with stuff like honey and vanilla. Some of us make our own blend at home. Pipe smoking is a world different than cigarette smoking. It's like comparing coffee to mud water. One thing is we don't inhale. We chew and savour the smoke in the mouth and nasal cavity. I had cigarette smokers who tried to smoke my pipe and it nearly floored them when they tried to do the usual inhaling.
Yes kids, don't smoke. I start smoking in my mid 30's because I can afford this vice and deserve this joy in life. While cigarette smoking is a waste of money and health...pipe smoking may be expensive habit to maintain. There is so many points of debate about pipe smoking vs cigarette. I'll just give you one simple point than even non-smokers can understand. Pipe smokers always have to relight their pipe, even for Gandalf...while have you ever seen a cigarette goes out? It's chemically altered to keep burning non-stop so people will keep burning them, while us pipe smokers take our time to savour it and relight it as needed.
A single bowl of pipe tobacco at least lasted for nearly two hours of continuous smoking...while the same amount in cigarette may last only for at most half an hour. I sometimes smoke the same bowl of tobacco for two days because I sip the smoke when I feel like it when on work break, reading or relaxing...not because I'm addicted to it. Have you ever seen a cigarette smoker put out their cigarette to smoke at later time? NO! They suck it to the last embers like breathing air.
Test it yourself, burn a "pipe tobacco" and a cigarette, see which will burn till the end non stop. That stuff that keeps it burning are amongst other chemicals added is the stuff that cause the real harm to our health....don't get me started about the fumes from cigarette paper. That stuff is never regulated, it's pure poison.
Make an archery target
ОтветитьI like that walnut stem!
Ответитьdid you really manage to just bend the wood dry? i’m in the process of building a pipe and im afraid of cracking the wood.
ОтветитьWe got a bleeder!!!
ОтветитьIm looking to make a pipe of my own, but pipemaking forums are all so confusing. Maybe you could share some insight from you own research :) Im using the same stem method as you (two pieces glued together), but for glue Im using titebond 3 instead of titebond 2 as you did... also my tenon to connect the stem and the bowl will be made out of a stainless steel so that I can remove the stem to clean both pieces. The steel tenon will be glued into the stem using the titebond 3, so that should be fine, but would the smoke passing over the joint length of the stem be a problem? Like will there be a leeching of toxins if the glue is heated albeit only slightly by the passing smoke? Im hoping since you didnt mention this in the video, this wouldnt be a problem, and Im guessing that since its so far from the heat source it shouldnt be a problem. Thought Id ask anyways though! Great video btw!
Ответитьhow thick are the two pieces of wood used for the stem?
Ответить
