Hi. Probably a stupid question sorry. So on the actual vat return are all the nett sales entered in the usual place albeit no vat being shown at top of vat return?

It is useful. But should explain it a bit more, basically. Simple diagrams. What is happening now ... what is going to happen.

Hi, I work for a property developer. I spoke to their accountant and asked if I should notify the subcontractors to explain about the VAT and he said it did not apply. The company I work for build residential flats (through one of their company's)and are also the Freeholders of those flats so in the end (when they sell back to selves through another of their company's) they are still the owners, I think the fact they are the Freeholder that the Reverse Charge does not apply or maybe residential flats are sold as exempt, I am not certain of exactly why. Would you be able to shed some light on this area? . Plus last week we used a new sub-contractor and the put reverse charge on their bill, do I just open a reverse charge CIS in Taxes or shall I ask them to amend their bill and post it the same as all the other bills we receive. Hopefully, I am making sense. I can double check with the accountant as well.

Is there an online register you can check to see if a company is cis registered?

Hi, can I reclaim the VAT on materials from a subcontractor? He is not VAT registered (but is CIS registered), and he charges materials on his invoice. Thanks

Hi, do I add the vat to the materials or exclude vat on the DRC invoice. Does it matter if I just guess the amount of materials I have used as some bit are just taken from old stock in the van and some are purchased from the merchants.
Thanks

Hi, this is a really useful video! I've processed DRC invoices a couple of times but to tell my customers in a nut shell when they get a purchase invoice from a subcontractor that is CIS and VAT registered they deduct 20% from the total (as long as the CIS 20% has already been deducted) is that correct?

Hi
Thanks great video..
We are registered as both contractors & subcontractors under CIS. CIS helpline confirmed. We are VAT registered.
However, One of our CIS subcontractors (VAT reg) insisted we have to pay the VAT & DRC doesn't apply.. we are still a little confused.. would DRC apply here?

Hi, I'm a joinery manufacturer who mainly just works in the workshop but sometimes we supply and fit. We do work for the public and builders. We're not CIS registered but are VAT registered. Two questions, 1) Should I be CIS registered? 2) Does the reverse charge VAT apply to me? I've got one builder who is asking me to not charge him the VAT but the fact that I'm not CIS reregistered leads me to believe that I should carry on as normal.

Very useful video. I was just applying the new tax rate on xero and was unsure of the materials are reverse charged. Question answered.

So as a subcontractor I am still going to be deducted for CIS which I need to claim back but then also the VAT will go straight to HMRC via the contractor? DRC isn’t replacing CIS deductions? Thanks
