Another one I saw multiple times in the 1980s that is forgotten is "River's Edge." Keanu Reeves, Ione Sky and Dennis Hopper all the way back in the mid-80s.
ОтветитьBad list: All just violent w/o memorable dialogue.
ОтветитьMy underrated cult classic I always recommend to people is Gridlock'd with Tim Roth and Tupac. Its a great 90s dark comedy crime film about 2 heroin addicted jazz musicians and it somehow bombed despite being Tupac's final film role.
ОтветитьMan Who Fell To Earth and as long as I'm thinking "bowie" I'll throw in The Hunger as a bonus.
ОтветитьMIRACLE MILE is a long-time favorite, and one of my choices as a superior apocalypse films. Those films are split into three camps: (1) the Apocalypse has hit and the film is about survivors; (2) the film's characters are awaiting for the apocalypse; and (3) some films split the difference - first half, before, second half, after. MIRACLE MILE is #2: the apocalypse (nuclear war) is scheduled but denied/hidden/lied about for most everyone. Except this one diner's occupying characters. Highly recommended.
ОтветитьTwo-Lane Blacktop is a film I'll never forget. It was not a commercial success when it came out but is now a cult classic. The plot if you call it a plot is aimless when no beginning or ending and is like no movie I've seen before or since. Excellent and unique.
ОтветитьWatching this at double speed doesn't make the voice over less stilted, but at least you get through the experience more quickly.
ОтветитьParis, Texas....one of the best movies I've ever seen. Probably ry cooders soundtrack
ОтветитьElection
Route 66
Then God Spoke
(A cult film inside a cult film)
Hamlet Too
And my all-time favorite —
Streets Of Fire
Sky High(2005) should’ve been on here
ОтветитьHaven't seen paris texas yet ....so looking forward on seeing it
ОтветитьOther than Repo Man and Menace II Society, I'll give you credit for obscurity.
ОтветитьEvery review of the 1991 film "The Rapture" is negative, but I thought it was great.
ОтветитьWhere can I watch these movies?
ОтветитьParis, Texas was a movie that really touched me deeply.
ОтветитьWhat about "A Simple Plan"?
ОтветитьParents, Dead Alive, After Hours, When the Wind Blows, The Dark Backward, Bad Boys (S.Penn/C.Brown), House of Games, Southern Comfort .
Been rewatching a lot of my favs from then to show my kid.
Repo Man is hilarious. Everyone who has seen Kiss Me Deadly knows that it steals shamelessly from it. And the likeness of the driver to Sellers as Strangelove is not an accident.
ОтветитьCorrection: Matt Dillon's first role was in a beautiful, almost forgotten movie from 1979 or 1980, My Bodyguard. If you don't know it and you watch it, you'll be glad I told you about it.
ОтветитьStraight Time has got to be the most underrated movies of all time.
ОтветитьMiracle Mile haunted me for weeks after seeing it. Criminally unknown. And One False Move made me a Bill Paxton fan.
ОтветитьHow is Paris,Texas overlooked? It's highly acclaimed and regarded as a classic.
ОтветитьMiracle Mile (1988)
Blood in Blood Out (1993)
Light Sleeper (1992)
One False Move (1992)
Out of the Blue (1980)
Repo Man (1984)
Over the Edge (1979)
Menace II Society (1993)
Straight Time (1978)
Paris, Texas (1984)
I thought this was a great list. I recognize these particular films have resonated with some people and stayed with them all these years since I've seen them come up in conversations. Personally, I'd add Lone Star by John Sayles. That film would have fit nicely into this list.
Ответить"Miracle Mile" sticks with you long after you finish watching it, and "Repo Man" is what people mean when they say, "Cult Classic."
ОтветитьThanks for this list. Quite a few I hadn’t seen and more than a few worth watching again.
ОтветитьSome otherd, El Topo, Gun crazy, Shock Corridor The Naked Kiss,
Ответить'Cult classic' means a small film that built a fanatical following, to me. Rocky Horror Picture Show, Cutter and Bone/Cutter's Way, Young Adam (McGregor's best work) and I could probably think of ten more if I had the time... Thanks for your selection.
ОтветитьSorry, too many gangsta flicks selected... thumb down...
ОтветитьMenace II Society is what Boyz N the Hood wanted to be
ОтветитьKurt Cobain loved Over the Edge
ОтветитьBubba Ho-Tep is a great cult classic!
ОтветитьWow. It's been so long since I've thought about blood in, blood out... Great movie.
ОтветитьParis, Texas gets shitloads of attention.
ОтветитьI hope I can find these movies. They seem to be the type that are interesting and what I tend to like watching. Thanks for this list.
ОтветитьWhat makes a movie a "cult classic"? Either way I've seen 6 of these 👍
ОтветитьParis Texas is a masterpiece. Wim Wenders created one of the greatest movie.
ОтветитьBlood In Blood Out needs more attention. For sure!! One of my all-time favourites.
ОтветитьBlack people are part Homo-Erectus.
We are part Neanderthal. Different Species.
Theresa Russell was so cute in Straight Time
Ответить‘Miracle Mile’ for my #1 cult pick, then ‘They Lived’, ‘and ‘12 Monkeys’ comes to mind.
ОтветитьSuggestion: Keep the name of the film on screen the whole time, maybe small and in the corner.
I found that I had a hard time keeping the names in mind.
Great video though!
A couple of others that fit here are "Eating Raoul" with Paul Bartel; and "Romeo is Bleeding"- the first movie I ever saw Gary Oldman in, co-starring Lena Olin. OMG!
ОтветитьVINTAGEVERSE hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm VERY WELL DONE ,i predict big things for you , keep it up .
ОтветитьHarry and Julie made it out of the tarpit and finally tied the knot.
ОтветитьGreat description by writer/narrator.
