He also had a resting heart rate in the low 40s, and ran a 400m under 50 seconds with no training. Natural

All do respect, Lemieux was better but cut down by cancer, Orr was more valuable and of course Howe was just old school durability. So I have him 4th. Not counting goaltenders.

I had him as a coach the year before he broke through. Mora hockey school,Sweden.. The intention was that Börje Salming would come, but he did not appear. Obstacles or something. Then Len Lunde (who owned the school) said that this guy will become something. We were so disappointed but damn he was quick and skilled. I got his autograph with me and him in the same picture, Today it's big, then zzz

I can remember as a kid playing hockey a teamates father asked my father to come and see this kid play. So my father went. The score was 17-1 and guess who got 16 out of the 17 goals

Top three favourite memories at the Edmonton Coliseum:
1). 50 goals in 39 games - 5 goal game against Philly. 2). Game 4 1988 Stanley Cup win vs Boston. Game 4 should have been in Boston but the lights went out in the Gaaaahdens. 3). Breaking Howe’s point record.

It was a remarkable time to be a hockey fan in Edmonton. His records are amazing but 4 Cups in 5 years is his greatest achievement.

One thing Wayne Gretzky is totally completely right about. You are not a superstar in sports unless you win a championship.

Gretz was a class act on and off the ice. He idolized Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr. His trade to Los Angeles in the summer of ‘88 brought the sport to America. He’s the greatest ambassador of the game of hockey. Ever. All the records, all the championships: An inspiration to kids and fans around the world.

Gretzky doesn't have to be competitive anymore. Jordan, Kobe, Brady, Montana, Clemens, Babe Ruth...none of them was ever as dominant as Gretzky was in hockey. Gretzky, 25 yrs later, still has 1,000 more points than the next closest player. Gretzky 2,857 points. The next closest player only has 1,921. No other athlete in history is that superior in their sport. No one else is even close.

There are so many amazing stats and things that set Wayne apart. I love that every time someone does something great in the NHL they throw up a graphic and there’s Wayne at the top of the list of the people who’ve done that thing…just a mile ahead of the second guy on the list.

Great interview, but those five questions at the end were garbage? An igloo or a tee pee? Really? By the way, the answer should've been an igloo, because that means you'd have an outdoor ice rink.

In my humble opinion Wayne Gretzky is as close to the perfect professional athlete as you can get. He is grounded, real, humble, considerate, polite and intelligent. He is very typical of his generation of Canadians and is a source of great pride for his native country.

The best hockey I've watched was the Canada-USSR series in the 1987 Canada Cup, when Wayne and Mario teamed up together, against Larionov, Makarov, Krutov, Fetisov and company. I told this to the father of a Canadian colleague shortly after Game 3. I would say the same thing today. It was really hockey made in heaven.

I wished Wayne and Mario, in their prime, would have more chances to play together. It would be a forward line of terror. Mario scored 4 goals in that final series, with Wayne assisting on all four goals.

Too bad Joe Buck didn't discuss with Wayne the best players he played with and against in his career.

I know canadians and Americans talk about differences but at the end of the day we share a continent .Literally no differences except in southern states because of climate
