Hello, I installed home assistant on a laptop. How can I monitor the laptop battery in home assistant?

No mention the Reolink app is terrible compared to the Ring. Push notificaitons are naff if your use the NVR vs the cloud and tricky to set up for the average Joe in android. I've had Reolink products for 5 years now and they are always riddled with silly clunky issues, either during setup or use. In this case getting the PoE to be found by the NVR was horrendous when it should take minutes. the chime was even worse. The doorbell needs an event filter in the App just for bell push. Also some features not available if you use the NVR for storage and/or how your configure it (standalone vs part of group).

My Reolink doorbell occasionally gets unresponsive. Is anyone else facing similar problems?

I’m considering to buy this Doorbell but I have a specific need that maybe you can tell me if it’s possible.

One of my most important needs is two way audio in AppleWatch.

So I can see that reolink integration already have two way audio. (At least with Scrypted). Do you have any idea if it’s possible to achieve two way audio in AppleWatch using home assistant, scrypted and home bridge?

What would be nice is if they set it up that you could use a DVR inside with mass memory storage so you could run it live full time or much longer and more complete evidence of crimes and all things spoken and said without missing a beat.

I have a nice DVR security cam recorder I could use that’s sitting and collecting dust and if we are allowed to repurpose stuff which is completely east for then to allow then we would have less trash in the earth.

The first security problem is that they can just rip the doorbell off the wall and run off with the video footage of them taking your packages and the evidence of them with it with a micro USB in the doorbell itself. And then I’m sure the ey have it so you can voluntarily hack your stuff so that China can spy you inside and outside your home.

And the trusted fbi and cia along with the local police that are stealing your footage already from the cloud and why mostly people want the SD card and not paid for spy cloud 😂

Just imagine how we pay for and facilitate to help our own enemies.

They are pure genius.

If they wanted otherwise the SD card would go in the ringer inside the house more more secure. Yep they are that smart to do that if they wanted or cared 👍🏼

If i follow your Guide I cannot see the port settings in de reolink browser. so I cannot connect my doorbell through HA.

Thanks for the clear instructions. It wasn’t working at first, however a simple reboot of HA fixed it.

I like the app of Reolink itself since it has quickreply, however it can’t show snapshot. Now I use homeassistant for the snapshot, but when I press the notification it will link to the Reolink app.
For anyone interested, fill this in for “data”:

I have the POE version. No wifi delay ! If I want to be picky, a fast login via fingerprint sensor would be quicker than punching in a 4 digit code . But in all other respects, it definitely ticks all the boxes. It is very easy to set up. The app works great. On the first day , I was able to talk to my postie to arrange a parcel redelivery, as I was away from home. Good price 👍

Thank you for this tutorial, but no matter what I try I can't get my doorbell linked in Home Assistant, what am I doing wrong? I can connect via the IP address of the Reolink doorbell with my username and password. I use the same data to log in to Home Assistant, I have adjusted all the server settings as indicated in the tutorial, but I keep getting the error message "Failed to connect, check the IP address of the camera". Who can help me with this, thanks in advance?

Can you make the notification send when you are off your home network? I assume that would require nabu casa to do so?

Until it supports a mechanical chime, it's not the one. Much less the "ultimate"...

How does it hook up with no wires for renters my neighbor has one taped to her apartment door with packing tape but no wires coming from it at all and it works wecan have video doorbells here just cant drill or run wires how can i get one up n running no wires n no drilling im a renter

I am however having issues exposing the camera entity camera.doorbell_sub to the Google assistant. It shows up in Google home but if I try to view the camera in Google home it says Live video unavailable, any idea why this is happening when it steams fine in home assistant and in the Reolink app?

I can ask the Google assistant to stream doorbell to Chromecast device just fine but the stream is about 30 seconds behind, any idea why it would be so far behind when it's a poe doorbell?

Had to do some extra setup to get the notofications pop up at my android devices.
there is one thing still not working. I see the popup and the snapshot is a small thumbnail instead of the real image. I have to swipe down in the notification to see the larger image.
Is there a way to just get the image as a notificatien? Such that it is large image?

Is there any update to this if your using the official reolink integration?

Hey Ed, great vid as always. I have a question about the action URI in the automation. Is the URI you wrote out work generically? Or do I need a specific URI for my stuff?

I worked out everything until sending the notification . I get a notification ( I have the doorbell pushmessgaes switched of in the reolink app) But I do not get a image popup on my android phone. When I open teh notification I see the info like 'title' that I entered so part is working but not all.
Also when I click on the notofication HA lovelace opens with the \ Overzicht"and not teh Camera dashboard.
Is there something that I did wrong?

seems to be an Alexa issue playing an MP3 file it plays a doorbell sound from the Alexa sound library "amzn_sfx_doorbell_01" but refuses to play an MP3 file and says that I am trying text to speech anyway more research needed

I just received my doorbell from reolink. I tried to install as per your video and have most working, but try as I might I can't get the doorbell to ring either on my Alexa Dot or my Google speaker. I have the mp3 file installed in the correct place. I am using home assistant on an Oracle VM maybe that is the culprit still searching

Hi I like your video's.
I also got a reolink and am testing before I replace my old doorbell. In HA there is quite some delay. I see about 1 -3sec to a HA card. I have the bell wired to the network. IS that a normal delay that I should expect, or could it be faster? Is there something i could change in the settings to make that faster
Also I see 2 protocols RTSP, RTMP and FLV could that make any difference in delay?

Finally a doorbell that almost works. The plugin chime is a bit annoying. I'm still on the Ring doorbell and the Reolink is almost the thing that I was looking for in the first place. The video doorbell market is filled with devices that don't quite work.

Hi, since the Update 23.4.6 Update i get the Error Message : Reolink webhook url unrechaeble and the ringing Event is no longer transmitted. Do you know how this can be fixed

How fast does it connect from smartphone to doorbell? I’m thinking of switching but this is my main interest.

Hi ed. Have you tried hooking up the doorbell camera through NVR? mine is RNL8 410 which I updated firmware to latest version but still cannot make sensors to work in home assistant reolink official integration. It sees them but don't get "activated" in home assistant. I can see them in reolink app but not in home assistant. It seems to me there is an issue with video doorbell (poe version) when integrated through NVR

We bought the Reolink Wi-Fi doorbell camera to add to our other seven Reolink cameras. Oddly, it would record to the micro SD (128GB) but it would not present the Storage option on either Windows client. If we clicked Playback, it would warn us it had no playback...but once we confirmed the message, it would playback. We presumed it was defective and bought another one...with the same effects. All of our other cameras had the Storage option. After multiple days, we emailed support. The day that they replied, it suddenly had a Storage option and it now had the Talk, Audio Alarm, etc., buttons on the live video. I suspect something auto-updated, but I have no idea what resolved the issue.
