Not the TV show
ОтветитьNever heard the background ooohs on the 2nd verse before - very nice. I'm 68, so the 60's era & Tommy Roe's songs were a big deal & a great time for me growing up in NYC !
ОтветитьOn this day in 1966 {September 27th} Tommy Roe performed "Hooray For Hazel" on the ABC-TV week-day afternoon program, 'Where The Action Is'...
At the time "Hooray For Hazel" was at position #39 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, five weeks later it would peak at #6 {for 1 week} and it spent thirteen weeks on the Top 100...
It reached #2 {for 1 week} on the Canadian RPM Singles chart, the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "Poor Side of Town" by Johnny Rivers...
Between 1962 and 1973 the Atlanta, Georgia native had twenty-two Top 100 records; six made the Top 10 with two peaking at #1, "Sheila" for 2 weeks in 1962 and "Dizzy" for 4 weeks in 1969...
Besides "Sheila" and "Dizzy", his four other Top 10 records were; "Everybody" {#3 in 1963}, "Sweet Pea" {#8 in 1966}, the above"Hooray For Hazel", and "Jam Up Jelly Tight" {#8 in 1970}...
Thomas David Roe celebrated his 77th birthday four months ago on May 9th, 2019..

ОтветитьHeard this on the local FM oldies station about a hour or so ago.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing this remastered version, sounds great!
ОтветитьWow! What a gr8 job u did here. Plan 2 use this on my "Rolled Gold W/Peter J" OLDIES shows.
ОтветитьI've never forgotten this song since I first heard this great song in late '66. I have to say that the Vancouver BC oldies station CISL650 NEVER played this. I wonder why.
