The best thing about The Expanse is shows you can have an very diverse cast without making it some kind of social message focal point.

None of this happened in the book. The show did it better by having Holden meet the captain in the bridge.

if you look closely at the PDC turrets on the Donnager you can see them blasting out behind the gun as well, which means it is a recoilless rifle design so the guns don't act like thrusters which is a really cool detail

Rewatching this after watch the series made me appreciate this fight much more.

First time I watched this I was shocked by the doctors death, now that I know it's coming I am no less shocked.

Captain Theresa Yao fought this battle almost as though the Donnager was a stationary fortress. She should have immediately given the order for maximum speed as soon as those attackers showed hostile intent. This would have kept the attackers in the effective range of their most destructive long range armament (which was mauling them) for much longer. I really enjoy the "realism" of this scene but Captain Yao's combat decisions frustrate me.

why did donnager self destruct??? they didnt have people to fight off boarders from two small ships on battleship>?

This is a fine example of scaling a ship's capabilities to fit the scenario. Even granting planning, surprise, and a purpose built design using bleeding edge black-book technology, 6x stealth ships close to the size of an MCRN frigate shouldn't be able to take out the Donnager.

One of the unrealistic parts of the series, probably for dramatic effect is the crew fighting the ship with common clothes, on a real combat space ship most probably the crew would dress pressure suites and helmets.

Never understood why they wanted to board the ship instead of just destroying it.

What episode is this? I saw up to this part of the show in the past but never got farther. Season 1 i lost interest

When the Expanse was still top tier. Brings back good memories before the dreadful last two seasons — this episode for me was the hooking point

Season 1 and 2 will forever hold a special place in my heart. The show started to lose me when it started bringing in stupid characters but damn what a solid premise.

That lvl of skill in taking out the Martian ship, way to similar to what the Empire of Man, the Tau, the Galactic & Republic <E.U. Legends>, Earth Alliance, would do,

seems like no matter how far you advance in technology, hearing "we're being boarded" is scary as hell especially when you're in a spaceship

ughhh i love teresa yao. it's so rare to see an asian woman in this sort of role. she's not eye candy, she's not even a dragon lady, she's just a stone cold badass, fearless in the face of overwhelming odds, and competent as hell. i wish donnager and her crew had lasted longer so we could see more of the capt in action.

According to the writers, the Expanse was originally a role-playing game that they created and played with friends. It turned out that the friend who played the Shed character quit during that time, so they killed off his character 🤦

I love watching the quivering jowls when the guy says the torpedos have the best targeting system he has ever seen 🤣🤣🤣

I read these books as they were published and always saw Holden as Sam Witwer.

Heres a fun question. Who would win in an all out war? The expanse solar system (Before the Rings opened)
Or the Modern battle star galactic solar system before the Cyclons destroyed it? I think that would be a fairly evenly matched war. Thoughts?
