Kadifekale'de Helen, Roma, Bizans ve Osmanlı dönemlerine ait kalıntılar bulunmaktadır. Kadifekale, şehrin güneyinde 186 metre yükseklikte bir tepe üzerine kurulmuştur. Amazon kadınlarının dağın eteklerinden inip uzun yıllar burada hakimiyetlerini sürdürdükleri söylenmektedir. Kale'nin ilk ismi Pagos'tur. Pagos, Grekçe'de "tepe" anlamına gelmektedir. 17. Yüzyılda isim değişikliği ile Kadifekale adını almıştır. Bu isim değişikliğinin sebebini 17. Yüzyılda o bölgede bulunan Evliya Çelebi ( 1611-1685 ) açıklamaktadır. Evliya Çelebi'ye göre; bu bölgenin kraliçesinin ismi Kaydafe'dir ve zamanla Kadifekale şeklini almıştır.

I am a Turk, I think the most modern and beautiful city in Turkey is Izmir, Istanbul is conservative and Turks generally do not like the city of Istanbul, they love Izmir.

Tarihi kemeraltı, balçova /teleferik , gidilmeye ve görülmeye değer yerlerdi fakat eksik kalmış.. ayrıca yeme içme sadece boyoz , kokoreç heleki son yıllarda popüler olan bomba dan ibaret değil.. özellikle bomba izmirle özdeşleşmiş gibi gözüksede tarihi ve geleneksel bir yiyecek değil.

Izmir artik eski izmir degil...kordon ve lemer alti camur icinde insaat halinde..basmane ve konak hizbe kimin kim oldugu belli degil..geceleri cikilmayacak sekilde bazi soaklar karanlik ...eski temizligi yok..bazi soaklar harabe.gercek elit izmirli kalmamis .hep değişik insanlar

You tried the bomba at the wrong place! While Çelebi was the first to create it, other spots have since perfected the recipe. So, while you didn’t completely miss out, you would’ve had even more options to enjoy if you had gone to Çelebi. It was like 15 meters away

i used this video for my izmir trip. thank you very much. people believe "kadife" name most probably coming from Amazon queen Kaydafa which is believed to establish the ancient city of İzmir. i guess Kaydafa evolved into Kadife
