FINALLY! we're upgrading to 2020 so I watched it again. Re done our Styles & Templates, Drawing Title blocks and migrated it all over to 2020. Then at the end of October I'm redundant. So if anyone in Dorset needs a Part time or short contract Inventor man give me a shout. Thanks for all your help over the years Neil. Jim

And after installed the update 2020.0.1 It has serious problems on assembly. on constraints assembles
CLEARLY AND CONFIRMED.

If you have complex and many assemble parts, created “conflicts”between constraints.
One of this,is the lost of deegres of freedom and the part remain “freeze”,while there are the constraints.

Rev Cloud? No, I guessed not. Toooooo much to ask for.

The new is horrible light theme.(At moment who all on 2020 direction to dark theme...).
The new is also horrible smallest fonts on ribbon,with no option to resize.(if someone had imac 27 5k ,it is not good idea for your eyes)

The Extrude Menu is similar to Siemens NX now! Why?

Excellent Thanks. Maybe I have missed something but can you lock views in Inventor? if I add something to an assembly the view in the drawing moves/expands, dimensions and text goes with it. Anyway of preventing this? Also, is there a rev cloud tool in Inventor 2020 or is it stil an ad in?

What about the "reuse profile" - performance in the frame generator? I have INV 2018 right now, but probably update to 2020. I work a lot with the frame-generator. In 2018 the reuse command is the biggest sh**t ever....

Agreed with solid sweep. Maybe a solution in search of a problem.
CREO has this as well and I think it may be used for things like a cut constructed using profile machining tools or grinding wheels. Like the flute clearances in cutting tools.

Dangit... Now I have to buy a second monitor..

This release is much less stable than previous. I have all kinds of selection problems in large assemblies. often my range of motion for a partly constrained component is locked and part will not respond when attempting to move. often my build tree just disappears in part. far more crashes. they screwed with the extrude tool and made it less friendly.. that's the start of my list of disappointments. the ability to move a window to another monitor is worthless to me because the build tree doesn't follow it.... what a fail!!!! and I bought an expensive desk top tailored specifically to AD products....

shocked that these features are just being added to inventor now. What else isn't in there? 20 releases to get end caps? Proper contour select? Sheet metal mirrors that update? Flatten surface? A property manager page? Any professional cad package should have already had this!!

Just wanted to comment on solid sweep. I have required this kind of feature a number of times. It is relevant in CNC machining. The solid representing the tool and the sweep the cutout. simply sweeping the tool 2D profile is not always enough, particularly in multi axis machining.

I wanted to comment on they solid sweep. If you Google Holroyd and look at the compressor screw profile you may understand. Or look at a 6 axis mill. The Mazak i-200s demo video probably illustrates it well. You can 'revolve' a tool head along some path. That's really what that 'hot dog' in the Inventor video is showing following the helix. I used to work in turbo machinery and at that time Pro-E was the only tool with a reasonable approximation of that 6 axis path. But you're right, i'll probably never use it again!

@Neil that loop select had to come from Fusion 360? I do believe it's been a thing in there for awhile if not from the beginning. So that's a good thing something good from Fusion to Inventor is kinda cool if you ask me. BTW good video!!

I can't believe it took them this long to improve the extrude selection. It's one of those moments when you say "dude, how can this software be soooo dumb!". Fortunately they've been solving these little annoyances in recent years. Cheers to that!

As always poor updates. How about constraint type insert for other shapes not only round (for example hexagonal and reqctagonal holes), Ilogic forms possibility integrate in menu panel, and I will be happy if I can use annotate hole and thread for slot holes.

Yet there is still no rev cloud built into the program. Or how about a custom number in text for cubic to match squared?

How are you using the "free orbit" I need my >z< mouse as free orbit mode. Or does anyone know?

unlike solidworks inventor doesn't allow editing thru transparent parts.
