Why I Stopped Collecting Funko Pops

Feels like u started for the wrong reasons I know folks love rares and sticker chasing but its always been about the joy of seeing ur favorite character in figure form. I have alot lost count but stick to what i like and can get

I recently bought a Groot bobblehead keyring and it is now out of shape because the spring is cheap rubbish! I'm not buying anymore funkos now!

I love to buy low and watch to see if the prices jump kinda like the stock market I only own 49 which 4yrs ago where only worth a total of $250 now today there worth $878 bucks...not bad for literally a $7 a piece investment

I had to sell majority of my funkos recently because of financial problems.Was able to keep twenty of my holy grails.

I only own like 36 pops and they are all from franchises that I enjoy.

I collect them for value, i buy them at retail then stick them in my cupboard, in a year or 2 the value goes up like crazy, i bought motley crue $10 each, now the set is $250

i have simmilar story with hot wheels - end simmilar way like yours story. i still have part of my collection tho. (it wasnt huge (about 250 mains (no rare/premium) ) displayed on wall and thats really enough for me :) -. From funko pop i have only wall-e and eve figure since those are my fav characters. I also never was lego collector (im hue lego fan till now) - but i prefear design my own sets rather tahn buying something that everyone can have. feel proud of yourself dude! good story

I collect transformers. I don’t every single one I see. Just the ones I like. I’ve done since around age 7 I stopped around age 16.
My older brother got me onto them and he died last year and now I’m collecting again because it was our thing that we had that we shared doing together.

Every time I buy one now I think how would he pose it?

That’s why I like getting the NFT funko pops that gives you a limited pop because it’s all numbered just like the good old days and people spend a lot to get them which means most probably won’t sell them for less then what they paid to win them so they will hopefully be worth a ton in the future

What makes me mad as I see people to this day showing pops that are fake on their channels acting like they’re real that’s another big reason that I quit!!!!

I stopped collecting couple years ago to my kids still give me a pop every now and again and so do my friends but I’m over it because of the price of them and funk oh you can never get anything from the Funko store !!And that made it not fun anymore for me

i almost had all the venom pops mixed with other characters

i sold some pops and tossed a lot in the Trash - i remember getting up early just to be first in line - no more - this addiction is worse then real drugs
i have a few left no like he said it stops being fun

After 2 years, I called it quits last January. Best decision of my life. I don’t miss it at all. I only kept my 10” Tony Tiger as it was the pop that drew me into collecting them. It does make you lose interest the more they push them out. It’s a continuous loop. And people don’t understand that restocks will kill the brand if it’s accessible to everyone. There’s no exclusivity in that. A lot of companies have adopted the “everyone gets a trophy” business model.

You have to know what you want. And knowing your limits for collecting anything is always a good thing. Kudos to you! I started buying a few more pops recently and I am probably going to stop. I don't need that many.

I love funko pops but when you collect them they add up fast and they're pretty cheap compared to other collectibles and when you keep them in the box like I do they take up a lot of space
