EU4 Luck of the Irish | Achievement Guide | Munster | Form Ireland | Tutorial

The problem i have which i don't know if they have done this in a recent update is that ALL factions in Ireland now either ally with a major power making war with them impossible. The developers has essentially made surviving as an Irish faction impossible

In my current run, about the 3rd time, stars aligned and i was quickly done with all the minors and waiting to fight the english. Succession war between England and France over Portugal happened and i was too chicken to declare my war as english soldiers haven't left the isles. France, my ally now, has a junior partner portugal so it should be ezy right? Yea, first war was fine, took Pale and started going after Scotland, who was now allied to England. Bid my time, until England was fighting someone , took down most of scotland and finished them in the seccond war. Now, around 1550 English monarch died without an heir and i was dragged into a succession war between France and Austria. France was mopping up with the Austrians, while now, finally powerful enough, i stackwiped inferior english troops and sieged down the entirety of England, I had to peace out before France did, cuz I was scared they wouldnt give me what i wanted. Could only take couple the two scottish highland provinces. Now France has england and portugal as junior partners so my future wars with england are going to be a pain in the ass, oh did i mention that Austria also rivalled me and Aragorn a French ally, is beating up castille, so my options are very limited lmao.
lil update, after declaring on England and occupying everything my war score still went to 0 after france sieged all my colonies so im restarting again :D

Here's another strategy, similar to the USA Benedict Arnold strategy.
1. Start as England.
2. Release Northumberland, Wales, Cornwall, and Mann as vassals.
3. Declare war on Scotland and quickly occupy them.
4. Waste as much manpower as possible, then peace out France by offering to cancel vassalization of Northumberland, Wales, Cornwall, and Mann.
5. Force Scotland to release Gaeldom as independent, and cancel The Isles as vassal.
6. Take out max loans and max monarch points from estates.
7. Having never spent monarch points on anything else yet, development The Pale as much as possible - ideally to 30.
8. Upset estates.
9. Send all money taken via loans as a gift to France.
10. Release Mide, playing as them.
12. Rename Dublin to Baile Átha Cliath.
11. You should have France, Castile, and either Burgundy or Denmark support your independence, thus gaining an alliance with all of them.
12. Begin conquering, as you will have a larger army than anyone else in Ireland.

A so much easier way is play as england like conquer ireland than release an irish minor as a vassal than give that vassal ireland and maybe some other provinces then integrate that vassal and release and play as that vassal.Easy.

I usually send my light ships to privateer in the english channel. gets a decent amount of money that way.

How it usually does
1. I attack a few Irish OPM's
2. By 1450 at least two will ally England, Scotland or even Burgundy
3. The war between France and England never starts
4. England attacks me
5. Game over

Ugh* It hurts me when i'm trying to get Luck of the Irish achievement.

I got to 146 Ducats spliting the fleet and selling them to navarra, castille, france, britanny and burgundy, this way you can avoid some debts, ty for the tuto :D

With the new ireland it might be different, but in previous patches, you could literally war chain across the entirety of ireland in one long war orgy without incuring a coalition... because nobody cares about the irish. At that point it was just a matter of fighting scotland so you had an english island landing point so you can pre-move troops, then kill england when their troops are off trapped in denmark supporting swedish independence or any of the other stupid reason's england always facepalms.

Did it on my first try in the most recent patch as Munster , I owe it to luck and RNG because France took Maine peacefully but then went to war with England around 1460ish, and by that time I had united most of Ireland (save for three provinces aligned to the English). So, I naturally hopped on the opportunity and sieged down all of England while the English Army was busy (and stackwiped) in France. Good stuff. Enjoyed some Mexican and Canadian-American clay too >:)

Interesting method. I usually do this achievement every major update to gauge basic changes to gameplay. Munster isn't ever in the consideration for the runs I do. I look at the fort as a negative because of the cost of it and delete it as soon as I take the providence but it is an interesting strategy I may try out to see how it compares.

This one was a pain in the ass for me. I did it as leinster after 3 tries during an older patch before there were all these Irish minors

I see. I was playing as desmond. Ate up most of ireland barring pale and an some of the northern bits that got vassalized by england. Then i allied england, ate scotland, and messed everything up

Hey thanks for the guide, i'll go try it out right now.

Just 2 tips:

- Keep your navy, it'll make you come off as a better/stronger ally, which will help you to get alliances in the beginning with France/Castille etc.
- When you've already made your alliances, don't delete your ships.. Sell them to other nations. They go for about 10-20 ducats per ship which is a big boost to your economy in the early game.
