Can't seem to get the WinXP installation covered in the video. Do I need to install from installation disc or how do I get the install to start? Just get an Operating System not found message on the black screen.

The only free VMWare version I could find was the Player, which does not work. Please help.

I have never used the start menu on Windows 10. I always used Stardock Start 10 if you use Windows 11 you can use Stardock Start 11. It only costs $5. Your machine will look just like Windows 7. I am far more comfortable in a Windows 7 environment, and you can use it on the internet you are still running Windows 10, but better, ( for me)

The vmware says it cannot connect to the virtual disk

At this point, it will be easier to just install from an iso.

I know it's an old video. I have a client I am upgrading to Windows 10 and they use currently Windows 7 Pro with XP mode with a really old DOS program. So my question is, can i open the old existing XP Mode drive image in VM Ware Workstation or virtualbox?

But all this is useless so I can use VirtualBox or VMware right away and install any copy of Windows XP. The magic of Windows XP mode was that due to one incompatible application, it did not have to run the entire virtual system. After installation, the program went run straight from Windows 7.

If you get Operating System not found error: The step in this video where he asks you to add ".vhd" as extension, change that file name to "Windows XP Professional.vmdk" if you are using VMWare 16
