I saw the USS Missouri in Norfolk, Virginia (naval base) in November of 1953. I was only 5-years-old. My grandfather and I were there to pick up my uncle who was on the USS Lake Champlain (carrier) just back from Korea, as was the Big Mo. (I remember sailors n board throwing Chesterfield cigarettes to folks on the pier.) Anyway, I was very impressed with the Big Mo and her huge guns, and my grandfather bought me a model of the USS Missouri.
ОтветитьUau!! Amazing
ОтветитьAfter touring her in Pearl , I REALLY don't think it be very hard to make her battle ready . Everything inside hasn't been butchered up . I'm surprised they don't fire the boilers once in awhile . Very impressive !
ОтветитьVery impressive visit. Please repeat this with a better camera (higher resolution), more clouds in the sky (because of the reflections) and a steadier hand. Then it would be perfect - more "thumbs up" for you in advance....
I feel a little sorry for the Japanese visitors: Everywhere the evidence of their defeat - also in their language. But it's ok like that. I know from my own experience that their English skills are not that good. I hope my school English is understandable?
I really enjoyed your documentary and look forward to seeing more. Thank you for your contribution, Axel from Germany
**THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS VEDIO**

ОтветитьI saw Missouri in 1990 in the Persian Gulf, off Dubai, during the embargo against Iraq. I was a sailor in the French navy on the fasm Dupleix 😉
ОтветитьThank you for this video
ОтветитьImagine being on the bridge when the two forward turrets fire.
ОтветитьMan ist das ein gammelige Kahn
ОтветитьThe USS Missouri has NO right to be berthed at Pearl Harbor. She has NO history there. That berth RIGHTFULLY belonged to either the USS Nevada or the USS Enterprise. The governent treated both of them like used dog food and destroyed them rather than save one for this berth. I would rather see the USS Missouri get the same treatment the USS Enterprise got rather than see it berthed in Pearl Harbor!
Ответитьwann lernt ihr denn endlich mal bei Aussenaufnahmen das Micro gescheit abzudecken ? Dieses Rauschen nervt gewaltig.
ОтветитьWhen the USS Missouri was anchored at Suisun Bay Mothball fleet , I was able to fly over her in while in a P 51 Red Dog Xll
We entered San Pablo Bay from Mt Diablo and flew over her twice before retuning to Livermore
Talk about a “ bucket list “ item one that I will never forget
It's Soo big 🤤
ОтветитьBeautiful
ОтветитьI took the tour a few years ago. It was awesome
ОтветитьI don’t know why the uss missouri is not in missouri
Ответить¿ Qué significa la BB en los Acorazados de EEUU ? 🤔
Ответить1991 contract install new deaerators tanks $400k for Missouri which at time stationed in Long Beach. seemed like waste money since a year later the ship was retired from active duty.
Served with the Marine Detachment 88-90. I haven't been back to the ship since I walked down the brow in June 1990 as a 20 year old corporal. At the time I had no idea how memorable an experience this would be. Thank you for sharing this.
ОтветитьJust an awesome sight!
What time capsule ! thanks for the tour I didn’t get a chance to see it last time I was in Hawaii a few months ago
My grandfather served on this boat and he had TONS of stories. One of the most common was fire missions that involved support ships, that when they were all firing simultaneously felt as if his bones were creaking and continued to feel the effects even as the guns rested. He used to tell me that his buddies and him would listen to outgoing and got so good they could calculate distance, similar to lightning strikes. They would bet money, cigs and rations for entertainment! He would never tell me any of the bad stuff, ever! Although, you could tell, even at my then age of 12y/o, he saw horrible things during the war! He had the eyes of a hawk and sometimes felt as though he was looking right through me at times and others as if the man could heal the world.
Their generation went through hell and came out of it as extraordinary men. I can't imagine the fear they felt and I wish when I was younger that I had listened and asked more questions!
Mi vuoi bene e mi manchi nonno, con tutto il rispetto del mondo!
I’d love to see her.
ОтветитьI hope to go there some day

ОтветитьThe Big cawhona
ОтветитьWhy were you not allowed to film in the shuttle?
Ответитьthank you for the tour I can't go there but with your vlog I was able to feel like I'm in there thanks!
ОтветитьI was on that ship in 1990. My step dad was on that ship in long Beach, California. We went out to sea and they shot the guns off. I been to the bottom of the ship as well, it was pretty awesome
ОтветитьI had someone ask me why they didn't put the USS Missouri in Missouri and they were shocked when I told them that to do so would require it being cut into pieces and reassembled. The Mississippi River averages about 12 feet and the Missouri had a draft of more than three times that.
Ответитьhad such a weird feeling taking a field trip and staying the night on the ship
ОтветитьPerfect 👌 and thenx
ОтветитьGuy wearing the bandana needs help
ОтветитьMighty mo sat in Bremerton, wa for decades after ww2 and did tours thier! Beautiful ship.
ОтветитьOh my goodness, the ship is convoluted. You should definitely take hearing protection with you and have a harness made. If the Missouri fires you will be thrown out of bed. Hence the belt. You should use hearing protection when you want to sleep and when the guns fire
ОтветитьMy second ship... 85 - 88. OC Division. Best command out of 7
ОтветитьSo awesome!
ОтветитьWas inside there 2 years ago, pretty eerie down there especially if ur alone
ОтветитьTHE ONLY REASON THE JAPS SURRENDERED ON THE MISSOURI WAS POLITICS HARRY TRUMAN WAS FROM THAT STATE IF WOULD WOULD LIKE TO SEE A REAL FIGHTING SHIP GO TO WILMINGTON NC BB55 THATS A REAL SHIP ,,,
ОтветитьThe camera was so shaken that my sister and I had a headache.
ОтветитьMy dad served Admiral Nimitz post war (only 7 of them were chosen). He also played cards with Admiral Halsey! My dad always talked about his experience when I was a child and I never understood his honor, until I became an adult. He told stories of personal conversations with Admiral Nimitz and his wife. Wow…
ОтветитьI remember walking on the USS Missouri when it was in Bremerton, WA for many years before being towed to Pearl Harbor.
ОтветитьWould anyone else here love to see the USS Missouri restored to her World War II configuration?
ОтветитьAn amazing ship. I got a change to visit Pearl Harbor in May for three days. I spent three hours walking and climbing the battleship. I was so amazed how it was built I notice the smell was old and you could tell how old the equipment was. But the history of this ship is so honored to be an American. Must visit Pearl harbor in your life time.
