I've always hated Buggy. Now i still kinda hate him, but that damn chapter still brought me to tears...

I always knew Buggy would do big things. I almost want to see him get The One Piece.

Ah shit... I thought it'd be fine to watch this since it's half a year old and they already introduced us to Cross Guild... I guess this is another one of those things that's not going to get adapted until like... 2 years from now like how The Reverie got split up... Studio decisions both baffle and frustrate me.

I love that the shichibukai were all the greatest pirates from shanks’s era. Many of them likely wanted to be king of the pirates, but put their dream on hold and submitted to the world government. With the shichibukai system abolished, these pirates are back to following their dream and it’s all because buggy relit their spirit.

I never like Buggy that much and still always views him as a joke in One Piece. But upur thory makes sense and I'm beginning to see deeper layer of him (he still won't br my favorite though?)

Okay, the characters I'd say got flipped on their heads more recently would be Xebec and Kuma. Kuma's backstory is tragic, and Xebec is such an interesting piece of the pizzle that is the history of the One Piece world. I have my own theories on various factors of this, but I'll just wait to see what happens in the future. Also, Kuma is tragic. Pure sadness. Also, Kuma is currently up there for best dad in One Piece.

Buggy really failed his way to the top and cried that he was afraid of heights.

Ive spent the past few months getting into and catching up with One Piece, and I'm definitely more of a fan of the bombastic stupidly flashy shounen action shown in the anime and manga, but I also just adore shanks as a character, and everything we saw in the recent chapters has just made me respect him even more with a significant part of that now being fear

Man whips out "Divine Departure" like its nothing, and completely annihilates Kidd. It makes me think that that sword technique is exclusive to non-devil fruit eaters since they wouldn't be seen as 'devilish' by the world, but instead as having kept the capacity to be viewed as divine

Just a crack theory either way, but I adore shanks, and i cant wait to see him meet Buggy again as well as obviously Luffy and all the other big names going around in his direction

I kind of had the feeling that this was exactly what happened between Shanks and Buggy. It just felt so fitting that Shanks had personal reasons to put his goals on hiatus while Buggy, being a passionate and ambitious dreamer, would be extremely disappointed. He always gave off some cynical vibes, like some illusion shattered years ago and made him a bitter man and the devil fruit story was just an excuse for him to hold a grudge against Shanks. Or rather it served as an oversimplified explanation for Buggy because he was in denial of his true feelings. My instinct told me that there was a lot more going on and this revelation only makes sense.

Oda has talked about drawing the largest war in all manga (i think but its something like that) and i think its going to be between shanks and luffy and in totally convinced buggy will fight on shanks' side

There's one guy I've known since he and I were both infants. His mom and my aunt were best friends. Even now, almost four years after his mom's death, he and I both consider each other as adopted brothers. Have we had our fights? Yeah. But at the end of the day, he's the one guy I know that when the rest of the world is cold and dark, will always offer me a couch to crash on for a night.

People are describing Buggy as the sentence "He Fell Upwards" or "Right place, at the right time" and I agree

Id like to see buggy help Luffy challenge shanks to become king.

Validate to himself that rodgers will and boldly following a dream is the better path, while fulfilling his wish to help a young shanks achieve the world... Something luffy is more like than shanks himself theses days.

Dude needs to smile and adventure again, instead of travelling around scheming.

That chapter was great

Giving Shanks the Strawhat feels like Roger was crowning him as the prince of the pirates.
I think what made Buggy feel so betrayed by, was him believing Shanks meant to abandon Rogers' dream by refusing to go after the One Piece right away.

That chapter made me go from wanting to keep laughing along as Buggy stumbles his way up the ladder, to wanting to see Buggy earnestly live up to his new mantle as an Emperor of the Sea. I love Buggy because, even if he isn't great in the way his underlings think he is, he is still great through cunning and sheer charisma. Once the shock and humor of Buggy being declared an Emperor wore off, it occurred to me that he actually does deserve that spot even if it was largely the World Government's fault that he got there.

By gaming the Warlord system, he was able to put together a staggering "mercenary" fleet, and make a boatload of cash. By taking his warlord status away, the government basically turned Privateer Buggy back into Pirate Buggy. They turned his giant mercenary fleet, much of which he was able to gather up because of his legal protection, into a giant pirate fleet. They turned his banked up capital into a bona fide war chest. I love that Buggy doesn't have the combat prowess of a Kaido, or a Shanks, but he is still smart enough to seize opportunities that have turned him into an Emperor level threat.

I’m so glad that we finally get to know the biggest reason why Buggy never went after one piece to this day.
Yes he gave up on competing with Shanks knowing that he couldn’t make it, but there’s more to that.
Buggy has been very aware that Captain Roger wanted Shanks to become the king after him since he was a child.
Buggy always wanted to be one, but also knew that it’s not his Captain’s will after all.
Even so, just like Roger did, Buggy also rooted for Shanks instead of becoming another enemy.
That’s cause he has always been his mate with strong bond, just like Strawhats with Luffy.
As a closest friend, a crew , and a family, Buggy was actually ready to be Shanks’s first mate and support him throughout the long journey, to find the “One Piece” and make him the King. To fulfill Captain Roger’s will.
He even entrusted his real dream for Shanks, but what he really got from him as a return, was the sudden refusal.
Thus this is the real reason why Buggy hates Shanks so much.
It’s not for the devil fruit, lost treasure map, inferiority complex, or even giving up on his dream, but it was for a single betrayal.
A lot of ppl were wondering why he was just threatening a small town even with all the things he’s been through back in Roger pirates, but now it actually makes sense.
His ultimate dream was gone in the first place, ever since he was “betrayed” by Shanks. The day his Captain was executed, before he even start to sail to the sea.

I sense a mihawk fight with shanks that buggy initiates in the future

This chapter really made the "final fight" for One Piece to be against Buggy more than Akainu. As far as I see it, Blackbeard, Buggy, and Imu are the clear runners for it. Imu feels more like government ending / manga ending compared to either Blackbeard or Buggy with how they are presented. Blackbeard has been a consist foil for Luffy almost to the point that it feels like a red herring at times. Buggy suddenly being the one to go for the One Piece while having Mihawk in toe sets up for an interesting paired fight with Luffy and Zoro.

why am i now seeing that we will be back to the first real vilain of the series Buggy, look luffy vs buggy - mihawk vs zoro - sanji vs crocodile - nami vs that slil-slim lady - usopp vs mr.3

I think you missed something, lets not forget that Shanks gave up the opportunity to go to laughtale and finish out the final voyage with Roger for buggy, and in part I believe that buggys agitation toward shanks is due to his own self hatred that he cost his best friend the chance to go to laughtale, then hearing shanks' sudden loss in motivation for going for the one piece, Buggy might think he is the reason for shanks, the man who he thought would be the next king of the pirates, was put at a disadvatage.

I don't think Shanks froze, he knew it wasn't time, and now it is!
