The fact of the matter is that the most effective martial arts do come from Japan, not China as many assume. While Gracie Jujitsu has been very effective in many ways it is not real good Jujitsu. It is like Kempo Karate, it has been bastardized. One of the hallmarks of Gracie Jujitsu is the take down where they run at the feet. Well if you know that they are going to put their face down and run at your legs, you can make sure their face runs into your knee. This is what happens to the Gracies early on each time and it is actually amazing they have the heart to keep fighting. It simply a matter of the guy knows what the Gracie fighters are going to do. Though I have seen many fighters like Bos Ruttan for example do well with Brazilian tactics there really are some problems with it. They are too quick to want to fight from the bottom, they oppose force with force. Regular Japanese Jujitsu is clearly superior, while Brazilian Jujitsu is more Jujitsu mixed with street fighting.

Sakuraba fought Royce 'the crybaby' Gracie for 90 minutes!! He tore him completely down. 90 minutes people!! Can you imagine any of the heavier guys in ufc going 90 minutes?!

what gracie was the humble guy who got his arm broken, what fucking awesome guy. humility is like one of the greatest attributes of fighter can have. he really saved the gracies face.
