ОтветитьI fell deeply for Paul and Grace in that last scene. Choosing to stay faithful to your ailing partner is challenging but loyal. I can only imagine how difficult it is for Paul as well and how it would be for Grace if she was the one with ALS.
ОтветитьThis is a scenario I play in my head rather often -- specifically where I'm in Paul's shoes. I work in healthcare and have spent a decent amount of time working in a skilled nursing facility with patients who had chronic, degenerative illnesses, and providing merely adequate care is multiple full-times jobs' worth of work. And so I often wonder what I'd want my husband to do I was to fall ill enough to not be dead, but incapacitated and actively, slowly dying. Because obviously Paul and Grace love each other, but seeing Paul struggle to smile (possibly because it was physically difficult due to ALS, or perhaps because he was just trying his hardest to brighten Grace's mood while not knowing entirely how?) fleshed out so much of the mutual pain they experience.
All of that is to say that I really enjoyed this. The actors delivered all the unspoken feelings so well. Hell of a thing to tackle for your first project out of school.
Thanks for uploading, George, I've always wanted to watch this.
