DO NOT buy their 3-year plan. DON’T!!!

I really dislike the fact I have to write negative reviews about companies that I once loved. PIA falls into that category.

I have been using their service since January 2021 and until May 2023 I was a happy customer.

Let me tell a bit about the background story.

As mentioned above since January 2021 I’ve been using PIA VPN. In the first two years, I purchased their 1-year plan for AUD 56.00 then at the beginning of this year (Two years later since I first purchased my first subscription) I thought, “why not save money and purchase their 3-year plan for just AUD 110.00)? THAT WOULD TURN OUT TO BE A VERY BAD DECISION.

So, what happened?

One day in May this year I was doing a simple Google search as always when I started getting Captchas requests (Those requests asking you to prove that you are not a robot). It’s ok to get those requests every now and then. However, this time, things were different.
EVERY single search that I do nowadays I need to wait at least 1 to 2 minutes filling up captchas to prove I’m not a robot.
Do you have any idea how annoying and inconvenient that is? If you don’t wait until your boss asks you to QUICKLY research for something on the go and you can’t do it quickly enough because your low-quality VPN provider triggers captchas request every single time.

THE WORST PART…
The worst part about all of this is that when I reached out to PIA customer support team I was told that they couldn’t do ANYTHING regarding captcha request (they tried to provide a useless solution which was to change the server but it didn’t work at all).

Taking into consideration that the VPN wasn’t performing as expected I decided to request a pro-rata refund (for the days I haven’t used it) and I was promptly told that PIA VPN don’t refund any of your money after the first 30 days of your subscription.

That’s right folks. Their 30-days risk free marketing is pretty useless if you buy a 3-year plan (I still have 2.5 years of subscription and the problem hasn’t gone away since May). I couldn’t emphasize this enough. DO NOT COMMIT TO ANY OF THEIR LONG-TERM PLANS.

DO NOT make the same mistake I did.

Now I am stuck with this extremely sub-par VPN and they can’t even issue me a pro-rata refund. That’s a great lack of consideration for a long-term customer.
My wife uses NORD VPN and she has never had a problem with it. There are plenty of others more reliable and more customer focused VPN providers out there. Choose another provider.

I hope my disappointing experience with PIA vpn ends up saving many readers of this review from signing up with this company.
