I'm in on the concept but don't see the 4% you refer to, at least not in these first 30 years you've illustrated: 1.8% guaranteed and 3% non-guaranteed over the first 30 years. Perhaps it gets up to 4% later in the illustration.

If the compounding of interest in your cash value is so powerful, why does it take years for your cash value to break even with what you have paid in?

You need to look at the fees.

People have been talking about compound interest for decades. I have read books about it, watched videos about it, and taken some finance business courses on it. But notice how no University teaches this solely. The reason is because most investment vehicles don't actually have a 10% return. That is the fantasy that many financial expert wannabes keep talking about but never actually accomplish it until they start to reach the $20k level of their own money to invest to begin with. The best thing to do now instead of falling for these fake gurus is to start saving early in an account that you won't have access to for at least 20 years to see real growth. Then invest that money after 20 years and you can start to see some growth. 401ks lose money when the stock market drops. So stop believing these fantasy short cuts that no one has been able to do for a reason and remember to not put it all in one place.

I pay for my life assurance pcm with nothing to show for it for the last 8 years. I thought I was just paying for the protection due to fear of passing away thats how the company compel. What should I be doing better to get a return?

Averaged… the roi on the typical whole life policy is 2-3 percent of the cash value of the policy annually. Also, you won’t have a positive cash value generally for 10 years. That…. Is a poor investment.
The s&p500 has been returning 8% annually on average for the past 100 years.
I know your insurance commissions are good; but please stop regurgitating that this is a good investment.
Just be real about the product and it’s benefits.
Please stop lying to our people.

Edit: my mistake….. the sp500 has returned 10% annually for the last 100 years.

In a perfect world, We should ALL be able to take a penny and have a 30-day 100% Compounding account that will grant us a liveable 5M+ balance to live on.
