The pronunciation of the place names really was painful to listen to. If it's true that the person who makes these videos just lets AI do the narrations, there are ways that the text can be changed to make sure the system pronounces the names correctly. For example, if you type into Google Translate, "I live in Ajijic", It'll say it incorrectly. But if you type it in as "I live in Ah-hee-heek", It'll read the place name correctly. Let's please be respectful of the countries and try to pronounce their place names correctly.

Buying property in Mexico is a big mess of backwards corrupt laws intended to allow lawyers and middle men to rip you off. The process of "protocalización" alone proves it. Nevermind the dangers of crime and cartel kidnappings.

Mexican goverment needs to make tax laws against foreign people who take advantage of our low cost of life just because have dollars. In our constitution there's a law that forbids sell of properties to any people who are not mexican. If any of you are buying properties, problably youre breaking the law....

Playa del carmen is not the same city before the plandemia, ugh …you can go there just for vacations because the ocean is pretty cool but the people in playa is getting pretty aggresive every single day. I used to live there and after 6 mounths I was jus very boring, small, town, nothing interesting to do there , just ocean and cenotes. is not really a good place to retired.

Most Americans find it hard to retire comfortably amid economy crisis. Some have close to nothing going into retirement, my question is, do I pull cash from my 401k and buy a house, or spread my money in stocks for cashflow? I'd love to afford my lifestyle after retirement?

I have an honorable city. For me, I would move to Ensenada, Baja California. It's close to the U..S. border. 2 hours away to San Diego and 4 hours away to L.A. It has the same climate as southern California , it's cheap, it has beaches , port, many tourists, and many things to do. Since I'm a military Veteran, I can go to the V.A. in San Diego.

These numbers are so inaccurate. Mexico City is one of the most expensive cities in the country. And the pronunciation of these cities is horrible. Do better and if you're going to speak on a place, get educated. And STOP using the term "cheap" bc it's not cheap for the natives.

Mexico has only a handful (few) safe places with low crime rate. 1) Merida, 2) Santiago Queretaro and 3) Puerto Vallarta area, 4) Monterey. Those are the safest cities there. Many US Expats also prefer Chapala Lake area near Guadalajara (Chapala, Ajijic etc.). However, those last places have no city life.

You forgot to add important information regarding safety. Mexico is inundated with mafia and cartels, and every single location you mentioned is overrun with mercenaries. Mexico is not safe anymore. This is the sad reality of 2023, and I’m telling you this despite being Mexican and working to promote Mexico as a tourist destination. IT IS NOT any longer. Don’t fall for these traps. Our country is at war.

Live Like a Prince on Social Security in a Foreign Country!

If you’re bringing in $2,000 a month in an online business, pension or social security and you want to save half of that, I know where you can live nicely on $1,000 a month as a single person because I am doing exactly that…

Since retiring, Mexico has been a wonderful place for me to stay on occasion. I love Merida, but gone are the days of an automatic 180-day stay as Immigration officials began looking at the frequency of constantly returning tourists who rely on that 180 day tourist visa in lieu of getting “temporary residency” which now requires a monthly income or pension of $3,100 US per month as of 2023 depending on which Mexican consulate you visit in the US to apply.

As someone on the lower end of social security, I don’t qualify financially for temporary residency and I can no longer rely on a “180 day tourist visa” as many others have done. So what is a retiree to do?

Broaden your horizons and look farther away from the US.

I’m on a sub-poverty income level of around $25,000 per year and could barely make it living in a 55+ low-income apartment complex in Albuquerque, NM with living costs, a car and insurance. Now I live like a “Prince” (not a King) in a foreign country where prices are roughly 50-60% less than in the US and I don’t need to learn a foreign language to live here in this tropical climate.

My rent for a fully-furnished, 1-bedroom apartment on the 2nd floor with a balcony, and water & Internet included in the rent, is only $200 per month on a 6-month lease. All I pay is electricity where my aircon runs about 60% of the time. Cost is only $58.

So where am I living? Siem Reap, Cambodia. If you’re 55 or older you can get a 12-month, multiple-entry, “ER retirement visa” through any travel agency for $290. It’s renewable every year for $270 and you never have to leave the country to renew your visa. You also don’t need to prove your income, provide an FBI background check or have a vaccination or health certificate. Opening a local bank account is not needed either.

I’m actually able to live here on just $1,000 a month, so if Social Security is all you have, you may be able to live here just as easily. My SS income is automatically deposited into my US bank account.

I transfer $1,000 from that bank into my FREE, US-based Charles Shwab account and then withdraw those funds with their VISA debit card at the ATM here in Cambodia (or anywhere in the world). All ATM fees are reimbursed by Charles Shwab at the end of every month, so it’s just like walking into my local bank back home to pull out some cash… always free. Cambodia uses the US dollar as well as the local Cambodian currency called Riel.

You may receive a poverty-income, but you don’t need to “live” in poverty. Why settle for less in the US when you can thrive abroad on so little?
