The difference your grandmother and us today is that's all there was all winter coats were wool and she probably didn't have the money to replace it. I remember my mum saying there was a time when she only had two pairs of under pants. She would wash one out by hand every night and hang them up to dry. Some things are better today thankfully.

I still get in a mood where I feel like I don’t have enough, I look at my beautiful home and want an extension or a new kitchen or a better car. Then I go the other way, wanting less things, a simpler aesthetic, a curated minimalist lifestyle. I forget to appreciate what I am so lucky to have, my family, my safe home, my garden, my health, I hope I can learn to stay in gratitude more and forget the noise from outside.

I'm enjoying your videos. They're actually helping me to recuperate from my major surgery last week. I do believe in quality over quantity. My maternal grandmother was like that and my mom and myself. We still have quality items we got years ago.

The more I grow up, the more I see the value of quality over quantity, and I'm also trying to be as sustainable as possible so this goes hand in hand for me. Also, that cake looks delicious !!

Baked purple sweet potatoes, sugar and coconut milk make a delicious purple sweet potato pie. I tend to bake the potatoes as boiling takes away nutrients and the beautiful color.

People wear me down. I need quiet time to renew. I live on a small farm with my husband and all of our farm animals and pets with a small garden to enjoy. Life is sweet here and I plan to retire from teaching in two years so I can enjoy it all even more. For me, simplicity is the key to happiness and balance.

Couldn’t agree more. When I was still in the city, I always want to move back to the countryside but since my job requires internet it stops me from moving. But now that internet has been established in my area, there is no way that I’ll be staying in the city.

I've tried making a sustainable garden and planted vegetables and fruits. It wasn't really as easy, most of all because the space is not huge as the ones they generally show in this kind of videos. I also had to feed a family of four, and there just was never enough, and by the time we had to wait for the fruits and vegetables to grow again we were forced to shop. Moving to the countryside is a dream with my husband but we don't have the money, houses and land in there are expensive.

Since finding your channel my life is changing. I want to cry really.

I'd been praying to God for help because I have an autoimmune disease and so I am not able to manage the house like I once could. Everything is becoming overwhelming to me, all the stuff in my house suddenly started to feel suffocating and oppressive to me, everything seems like a huge mountain to climb and I can't get it all done before the day is over and it makes me feel like a complete failure. I was starting to fall into depression and I didn't even understand what the problem was outside of me not being able to keep up, and not even knowing how to fix it. That is when I found your channel. I was watching your channel and it's helped me to see what the problem is.

You have helped me so much. I am completely purging and gutting my house of unnecessary things, I am making the recipes so that is helping me get chemical products out of my life which is helping me to feel better, and the permission you have given me to make things simple in my home has helped me get my stress levels down and all of this is helping me to feel better! And what I mean by permission is it's like, I was just taught this is the way we do things, this is life and that's it. I didn't even consider maybe things could be different, this is how everyone lives, this is normal. And I watched your channel and it was like....that not only is there a different way to do things and I am allowed to do things a different way then what everyone else is. And I'm allowed to teach my kids that there is another way. It doesn't have to be about stuff!
I'm less stressed so more friendly to my family. I have more time because there isn't so much mess to clean up. And there is a satisfaction if making my own products for the family like I've never had before just buying it from the store. Plus on top of it not wasting as much.
Finding your channel was the help I never knew I needed, but I am so thankful to God for putting in my path because you have changed my life and the direction that my life was going.
I don't have as much stuff to clean so I can go outside and enjoy nature and so everything I my life is just improving!
I don't even know how to say thank you to you, where do I even begin? I hope you can hear my thank you through out this comment because I'm not sure I can put into words the thank you that you deserve. 😊

LOL the coat thing made laugh. I am still actively wearing a Barbour waxed jacket and a good wool coat I have had since my teens. The one does for casual wet country and the other does for every other occasion. Likewise I still have the wellies I have had since I was a teen. Wellies are forever lol. My mom used to make something called Monday pie, it was all the leftovers from whatever we ate at the weekend. I think she added a tin of baked beans and some cheese to it and it was like a casserole. Also never a potato went to waste, as it was all made to potato bread which you ate instead of regular bread as toast for breakfast. Those and the mince and tatties are still a staple in my own home. Though my Cajun husband is less impressed, that's what he gets for marrying an Irish woman. I will say I have found that now I live in the US, Americans near me don't seem to save hardly anything. There is no saving the bacon grease and using it to cook, no cleaning rags from old clothes, saving the butter wrap to oil the baking trays, using scraps of veg for the compost or the chickens should you be so blessed. Make do and mend doesn't seem to be much of a thing here and I have managed to furnish my home almost entirely from the charity shop, with frankly very good quality items in most cases.

When I was little, we had little things. Then I was a student and could not afford my housing. Now I'm married and we have money but I feel like I need so much stuff. I drown in it. Because I feel like one day I will be poor again, and then I need all of this. But I'm so sick of my scaresety mindset. This fear. So after watching you explain how you live I know that I have to change it. It's going to be a big challenge but I need it. We need it. Thank you
