Bought one used in late 2023 for $850 and i feel like I robbed the guy.

Is this the one that can shoot 1K fps?

I don't think the jitter in video mode is acceptable. An iPhone on an Insta360 Flow or GoPro are way better.

I think the RX100 Va is still the one to get. the best compromise with a fast lens

Have Sony updated the Firmawre to enable full functionality on the screen?

Smartphones just aren't sharp (and I don't mean the aftereffects "sharpening" or AI "enhancements" that mask or replace details) and the poor handling of depth of field makes images look "flattened".

Plastic lenses and lack of aperture control are compounded by the need to squash everything into as small a space as possible. Even where large near 1inch and 1inch sensors are squeezed in, they quality is never there.

What are the best point-and-shoots you'd recommend that maximize optical zoom without sacrificing on image quality (preferably 1" sensor)?

Thinking of getting this as a backup to shoot some concerts with this summer. The optical zoom is a must have. The varied F-Stop... Well my Nikon P&S had a f2 lens and it rocked but was limited to the number of frames per second and no tracking autofocus. Quick question... Can the screen flip around to protect itself when not in use or is always exposed? Other than that I may be getting this soon as I don't see Sony releasing another version of this.

Video without any external stabilizer is still shaky as hell. These cameras are way behind smartphones in this regard, making them a lot less convenient. And processors they use seem to be from a decade ago.

is the mic input jack good for stereo signal?

I have broken my TZ100 last week. Now I'm looking for a replacement (1 inch sensor, zoom lens)
Need some inputs from you guys.... should I buy another new TZ100 ?? Or just go ahead and try the new Sony RX100vii ..... cheaper is better, but can spend some gils if image quality is better on the Sony?

Nice little pocket camera, but Massively overpriced!!! No nd filters, No headphone jack, no hdmi output, poor battery life, and did I mention its Massively expensive!
Only 100mbs in 4k, which is very poor considering the faster sensor read out. And overheating!!! In 4k at 100mbps??? Really??? Come on sony that is incredibly poor.
For video pick up the FZ2500 for $400 second hand.

Really wish you guys included more sample shots and hit more on the low light issues as well as how well the zoom images come out in terms of stabilization and what not. Otherwise great review as always.

hey! Any news about the rx100m8? They're like 2 years over due??!! I broke my m7 and will re-buy if needed but I usually buy something like this 1 week before the announce.

How is the shutter lag time, acceptable?

As for your final question: I'll keep buying those for as long as Sony makes them, but I need an option for a 16mm-55mm F1.8-F2.8 and a working digital Hot-shoe! (unlike the ZV-1)

When the successor to this camera has 4k 50/60p and built-in ND filters, even if record times are still limited, I'll buy it without hesitation.

What is the reviewed actually compared to thou? Is it comparing the camera to the best most perfect camera in the world, or cameras of a similar spec and purpose?

Got this camera last week. After using iPhone as my main camera for the last 4 years, I got to see again how awesome photos from a good quality camera are.

Thanks for the review. Unfortunately, you need to realize that not everyone is a vlogger and is going to be walking around taking video of their face while walking. I would have loved to see a lot more video from this camera, shot in different lighting conditions. I realize you were trying to do a review in a single day, but it would not kill to wait a few days to shoot in some better lighting.

Great video, I am in the market for either this Sony RX100 VII or the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III for travel (hiking, geocaching and walking). I leave my DSLR D810 mostly at home when I travel and use the Samsung Galaxy s9.

In the NLs the Sony is at cashback making it on par with the G7. Hard to choose.

I really appreciate the review of the mark vii, but my question is, is it possible to take Long night exposure with it since i already have the dslr camera and i want to change with the mark vii ?
