Thin oil is thin protection, change more often.
ОтветитьMobil one is garbage…
ОтветитьGreat video!! What I don't understand is that my owner's manual (Kia Forte) lists several oil viscosities depending on the country/temperature, and it even says that they recommend using 5w20 for better gas mileage instead of 5w30, except for T-GDI engines and Middle East. I've always used 5w30, but IDK if 5w20 would have a positive or negative impact. BTW, max temp where I live is ~36°C.
ОтветитьVideo was pointless
ОтветитьAbout as useful as if I’d slept through it
ОтветитьVW recommends EITHER 5W-30 or 5W-40 for my turbocharged engine. I've been using 5W-30, and I am burning more oil than I'd like. People have told me going to 5W-40 might reduce the oil burning. But would it still protect my engine as well? And how does the higher viscosity affect the turbo?
ОтветитьI have an 02 Camry SE with the 2.4L 4cyl and Automatic. Bought it used from a friend with 80k on it, Records Proven Dealer Serviced. I've used genuine Toyota filters and the recommended wt oil (synthetic) The car now has 220k on it and not so much as the valve cover has been removed. All Recommended Fluid Changes Done. One Complete Set Of Struts, Two sets of spark plugs, Several Tire And Brake Pad Replacements: Smile And Steer! Without a doubt, one of the best cars I've ever owned.
ОтветитьRun thin oil to save $350 worth of fuel per 100k miles and it'll only cost you $3500 in repairs every 100k miles. Great deal.
ОтветитьIn a nutshell. If you buy a good car, like Toyota, use lighter "weight" oil. If you buy any French, Italian, Dodge, Australian, Russian, Chinese car, use the highest weight oil you can find because the tighter and well spec'd "blue-printed" engines are so tight and efficient, they need thinner oil.
Done.
When u live in a hot tropical climate, higher thickness is better, 3 cylinder and thinner oil = catastrophe combination.
ОтветитьMy car uses 0W-20. 60,000 miles. Not a single puff....
ОтветитьMy engine says use 0W20. Period! Nothing different!!
ОтветитьIf you don't like the oil viscosity recommended in your owners manual, just use the manual for your car from another country to get a recommendation that you like ;)
ОтветитьLong service intervals, downsized direct injection engines with narrow timing chains and plastic guides, combined thinner oils are a recipe for disaster IMO, especially on diesels which tend to contaminate their oil with fuel. In fact many manufacturers have had reliability problems due to this combination of factors.
Ответить“Always always always” as I drive back from Oreillys with 0w-40 for the winter. Great video
Ответить5W 30 Castrol full synthetic for G35’s.
Period.
Mobil 1 for the lawn mowers 😎
Hi i live in Virginia with 2009 Honda Odyssey 250k mileage, should i use 0w30 in winter and 5w30 in summer, instead of owner's manual 5w20 ????
ОтветитьHere I am with 0W-8 recommendation on my 24 corolla
ОтветитьI actually remember the days of factory carburated vehicles and running a thinner oil in the winter. Good stuff and brings back positive memories.
ОтветитьThe car is brand new (Suzuki Alto VXR 8th Gen R06A) and the owner manual is recommending 10w40 oil. However there is an ongoing debate in the country (Pakistan) that i should go for 0w20 or 5w30 as the engine is very much new.
How correct is that theory that thicker viscosity will decrease the engine life? and what should i do as Suzuki Japan recommends 0w20 for the same variant and engine model.
Any expert opinion will be appreciated.
