it really depends on your luck. I bought refurbished iPhone and right "out of the box" the battery health was 80%(and felt like it was 50%) so i had to replace it.

I have a refurbished XR and it’s still a great buy in 2022 if you need a cheaper option to get into the apple o.s.

refirbished means different things, apple refirbished means its been tested and a new battery put in. Alas 3rd party refreshed means a batt above 80% and a wipe over with some cheap and nasty chinese charger and lead maybe. APPLE ALL THE WAY

It also depends which company refurbished the iPhone. If they didn't use quality parts, or did sloppy repairs on logic board, it won't be a good experience.
