And I thought Bioshock was bad with the exact same enemy types doubling or even tripling their hp towards the end of the game... no game is SO good that it can just shrug off horrible/lazy balancing.
I'd assume the damage perks might be a relict of the pen&paper days of rpgs, where your damage and where you hit are determined by rolling a dice rather than literally aiming at the enemy. I can see it make some degree of sense in the first two Fallout games with its turn based combat that had you click where you wanted to aim and then the game decided if you hit there. There's so much stuff from analog games & the early days of rpgs that somehow is still present in so many games, even the most basic things like XP & leveling up. You shoot 50 people and now you reached the next level... and chose to improve swimming and lockpicking?

ОтветитьI guess the logic of firearm damage increasing with skills is the shooter learning to hit vitals? But even that is extremely silly since it wouldn't really make sense outside of VATS, where the game aims and fires for you
ОтветитьLate comment but this mod combined with some survival tweaks have made playing fallout fun again. I actually end up dying when charging in unprepared and have to plan out how and when to use my weapons on enemies if I dont wanna get shredded

The minigun should have done far more damage per shot but also should have been a bit smaller (unless it fired .308 rounds instead of 5mm rounds). The crashed vertibird with the minigun should have been crashed next to the edge of the roof and the minigun shouldn't have been detachable from the mount it's on. It should have just been a powerful weapon you use as a mounted weapon at that point in the game (and you shouldn't have had access to power armor that earlier either) that you use to defend the building. Maybe the devs could have had the player need to kill the deathclaw before it reached the building and killed him/her.

ОтветитьIf I wouldn't have sworn to never buy Bethesda ever again due to them desecrating Fallout, I would have gotten the game just to play it with your mod.
Sounds like a more STALKERish gameplay, just as a 3D FPS Fallout should have been coming from 1 and 2.
personally, I've also been working on implementing a detail where barrel length influences damage based on the cartridge.
for example, a pistol receiver will work better with short barrels while a rifle receiver will require long barrels, because of how their powders burn at different speeds.
I don't wanna be THAT guy but, I love the way Fallout 4 looks like an entirely different game with all the mods installed. Is there any way someone could take his full mod list and create a mod "bundle" for both PC and Xbox? I feel like it would be a great help to anyone (myself included) looking to change their game up like he has without them needing to install all 1,889 mods one by one. They could go to one mod, install it and bam they're all there.
ОтветитьI wonder if you could add tweaks in which a longer barrel will increase damage output.
For example a 124gr 9mm bullet fired from a 16" barrel can match the ballistics of a 125gr .357 Magnum out of a 4" revolver.
Also a 180gr .40sw out of a 6" barrel can get real close to a 180gr 10mm out of a 4" barrel.
Perks man. Perks. And Legendary weapons. If you optimize even a bit you can do damage It's almost like ignoring a large part of the gameplay loop makes gameplay harder!
Ответитьthe one concern I have based on your description of your system is that range and rate of fire were mentioned almost as an afterthought. combined with the mention of using weight to balance the combat experience, I have to ask: did you rework the inventory / weight system?

ОтветитьTHE HEALTH MOD WAS YOU??? holy goddamn I've had so much fun with this mod coming back to fallout 4 it was so boring and easy but when I found this mod I dropped an extra 200 hours and have had a great time.
ОтветитьJust putting it out there that true damage is an absolutely scuffed mod that forces you to only use vanilla ammunition types. It also bricks your save whenever you delete it by just erasing your Pipboy off of your arm and making the games inventory system just disappear. Just use ECO to adjust any weapon to a balanced value.

that's why i never play bethesda games above easy difficulty. they don't know any intelligent means of difficulty increase , all they know is "give enemy more health and damage, nerf the fuck out of the player"
