3d builder is great. its awesome for basic cad models. things snap into alignment.

Meshmixer has been sunset and is no longer available for mac, sigh.

Sorry dude but it's a pain to download things from your website actually. I don't want to waste my time to create an account and fill forms and spend all these efforts for one thing. I hate that policy.

FYI: You can undo what you have done in MeshLab and go back to the original Mesh without starting over and reloading the file. In the Project window in the upper right of the screen, a list of mesh objects and actions is provided as you work on the loaded STL mesh file. Click on the last mesh that was done in the list. Then right click and select "Delete current mesh. It will go back to the previous mesh action that was performed. By deleting all actions except the 1st one, will put you back to the original Mesh that was loaded into MeshLab. Many mesh actions are listed and found in the Project window when you right click on a mesh item in the list.

Thanks Angus for recommending 3d builder. I used it to repair an Anet A6 fan duct which I was then able to remix to make it work with the hemera/volcano hotend. Unfortunately I couldn't get mesh mixer to install on my mac. I think it's pretty much dead these days on Mac.

Interesting we may give them a try too. Most work we do in FreeCAD but also use Magics and Autodesk Netfabb for some of the work.

Hi there, im trying to start my 3D learning challenge and I came across your yt channel and with it so many interesting videos. Unfortunately there is one question that i cant find answer for it, and I see that you work with several sw so maybe you can suggest me which will be the best sw (and how) to get a form from an object. Meaning, lets suppose that i open in mesh the bunny, and i would like to make this bunny in fiberglass (not 3d printing) and for that i need to create a form from the object (bunny). how to achieve this? thank you

I'm spoiled by having materialize magics at work ;) also in meshlab, many filters only operate on selected faces if you care to leave a certain part of the model un-chnaged.

You should do some kind of Down Under 3D collab with Blender Guru.

3d Builder was the first thing I used to make a 3d Product from a Drawing.

Meshmixer: Another reason to ditch fusion360 if considering already, or to skip it if not yet invested in learning fusion360. Again goes Autodesk to buy a product to kill it off (kill competition).

Oh man, I've been converting mesh to brep in Fusion 360 whenever I need to make little adjustments or add in text or whatever. It looks so much easier with 3D Builder. haha.

I'm new to mesh manipulation. I'm gutted I didn't know the meshlab trick to improve the triangulation 2 weeks ago. I have just finished 3 sonic faces for my sons room 35hr prints each. I suppose they look a little retro. They were taken from 100mm full models and scaled up to 300mm heads. Live and learn.

These are lovely programs and I use each one every week. I’d like to see videos on photogrammetry software and point cloud software for 2020/2021 as well. I can’t even keep up with the photogrammetry stuff. Like I just found out last week that iPhones have LIDAR now. Would love to see your take on that area

Fusion 360 is my goto program not much you can't do with it.

... Could you smooth parts of your print with a hot air gun, then proceed to print with the typical texture on top? Could be interesting.

Hey, Ive watched your channel for awhile and you seem great at 3d printing so I have a question, I’ve been printing for about 5 years now and I have just received a problem I’ve never had before. My Creality CR-10 randomly stops printing throughout the model, the mechanics work fine and it actually continues moving, just the filament completely stops extruding every time. I’ve replaced the nozzle, the extruder, the filament tube, and even the filament and I can’t get anything to work. Do you have any advice I could try out to get it printing again?
