The Finn brothers r incredibly talented
ОтветитьI was a teenager when this song came out! I'm 58 now lol well done Tim for the memory with Kiwi Music!
ОтветитьOne of my all time favs
Ответитьwho's on the organ at the start?
Ответить...I used to play this on my boom box at the beach in L. A. and all my friends thought I was crazy.
1980s
Tim's vocals, Neil's hornpipe, ageless music.
ОтветитьI used to play in a band that covered this song...I haven't heard it in 35 or 40 years...
ОтветитьWhen he wakes up after being put in the long boat till his sober.. ❤
ОтветитьWhat shall we do with drunken sailor? ❤
Ответить❤
Ответить6 months in a leaky boat is scary
ОтветитьI can relate to this song. Metaphorically speaking, I have spent six months in a leaky boat.
ОтветитьThey were great when I saw them in 82. Neil played string synth and mandolin and Tim played 6 string. The coda was just as haunting live.
ОтветитьBOO

Ezra 2, mirrors space hours
Towers of Babylon business.
Karri to the pine gaps of knees
The wine of the world harlotry
In just an hour punished by one.
But the merchants of all nations.
All then bound so deeply within.

I heard this song every morning while deployed 6 months on a leaky boat - USS Roosevelt.
ОтветитьI love the last minute of this song.
It sounds like a completely different song. I would love to see it extended and made into its own song.
Heard of them about ten years ago, in a list of progressive bands, and I was amazed from the beginning, love these guys. They were very good indeed.
ОтветитьI crushed hard on that mui girl.
ОтветитьOK, As a kid of 11 years old, listening and loving this song in 1981-82.... and realising that it was taken to be "out of line" regarding the Falklands Conflict from April-June 1982...... Come on!!! Are you serious? Take the UK and Argentina out of this! Nothing at all to do with either side! As a kid, listening to local radio - Split Enz, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Motorhead, M, Katrina and the Waves, The Pretenders, AC/DC, Rocky Burnette, Renee Geyer...... it was the music we wanted to hear! Not some politically swayed misinterpretation! Have mercy!
ОтветитьDoes anyone else hear Phil Collins in this song? I think he sounds so much like Phil
ОтветитьHaven’t thought about this song for thirty years and then it comes up in my mix wow
ОтветитьWordle brought me here😂
Ответить80s music rules!!
ОтветитьThis song never fails to make me feel happier fuck yeah New Zealand you glisten baby Chur bro 💚
ОтветитьUK banned this song during the "Falkland war". Great Kiwi band
ОтветитьI am still confused as to the difference between Split Enz and Crowded House, but Split Enz does have some great tunes. I guess Crowded House was a breakoff band with some members of Split Enz?
ОтветитьGreat song. Takes me back to grade nine when it came out and all the years I've listened to it since. Classics keep getting played in my world.
ОтветитьAh, c'mon all ye lads, let's forget and forgive;
THERE'S a WORLD to EXPORE, --TALES TO TELL BACK on SHORE!
Hot take: The Wiggles cover of this song is better than this
ОтветитьWhat a way to get “Aotearoa” on everyone’s lips. I always sing that part with pride!
ОтветитьBest Feeling Always listening to these guys ✌️🌟🌟🌟 From Art By Gonzo ⚜️💫🛡️😎God Bless You All ⚔️⚖️🔱
ОтветитьLove Split Enz but somehow I never heard this song until I moved from NH to AZ in 1997!
ОтветитьThe only thing that brought me here was The Wiggles.
ОтветитьWhy did they become Crowded House? When Split Enz was so good!
ОтветитьAnyone else originally discover this song sometime in 2005 from a man named Paul Paddick? I hear he was a good captain.
ОтветитьJust saw him in concert at the Michael Fowler Centre - he’s still got it!!
ОтветитьI started keeping personal charts when I was a kid from 1980-88. This was my #1 song from all of 1982 (6 wks at #1)...and I was living in the SE coastal US where radio airplay was scarce. I did get Billboard magazine, which showed me the international charts, and caused me to buy "Time & Tide".
ОтветитьOne of all time favourites! Why doesn't it have more views?
ОтветитьThis should of been a bigger hit in the UK
ОтветитьSounds like ELO's 'Sweet talkin' woman'
Ответитьthat intro is so prog
ОтветитьAotearoa, rugged individual
Glisten like a pearl, at the bottom of the world
The tyranny of distance, didn't stop the cavalier
So why should it stop me, I'll conquer and stay free
Ah c'mon all you lads, let's forget and forgive
There's a world to explore, tales to tell back on shore
I just spent six months in a leaky boat
Six months in a leaky boat
This song was cut from commercial radio playlists in the UK during the Falklands War 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьThe ending of this song makes me think of all the lives that have been lost at sea.😢
ОтветитьThey don't come much more brilliant than the Finn brothers. I would put them right up there with Lennon/McCartney.
ОтветитьBeen listening to crowded House since i can remember and only just found split enz today.
