This is a HORRIBLE tutorial. You are essentially rendering a completely new quad just to get your texture there, while there is absolutely no reason for it. It's adding 4 additional vertices to each piece of geometry.
You need to use UV mapping to apply a texture to one side of a cube without any of this overhead. You can create a dynamic mesh right in Unity if you want to do this; no need for Blender or "importing cubes".
All that other stuff seemed like more work then just making a cube in blender
ОтветитьOh my goodness, thank you for this. This was very helpful!
Ответить🤦♂️
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьThanks king!
Ответитьi love you
Ответитьbut what if it's not a face
ОтветитьGreat idea, thanks!
ОтветитьThank you. Your simple tutorial helped me a lot today.
ОтветитьTHANK YOU!!!!!!!
ОтветитьNice video. Thank you! Can I make this arrow in Adobe After Effect or Photoshop, because you also used a .png example? Thanks
Ответитьperfect, this is exactly what I was looking for!
ОтветитьDo you have any suggestions for UDIMS? Is kinda similar to what you taught here... but in the case of importing a mesh with UDIM coordinates to texture
Ответитьthanks man, your a life saver
ОтветитьThank you so much! I have only used unity for three days (alr made a somewhat fun game) and now I will finally be able to make my cubes look nice :D
ОтветитьIts working until I move my Cube-- with a script that rotates the cube. When I rotate the Cube, the Arrow "Jumps" from one Side to another. Im a total beginner so I really need some pointers. The Cube is set as parent and the Quad is set as child so that can't be the problem.
Ответитьthx
ОтветитьThat's so helpful, thanks, but how to make the white side is transparent? So in one side just arrow without white color
ОтветитьBig big thanks! This is exactly what I needed.
ОтветитьThats what i did but it makes the game slower
ОтветитьClever
Ответитьisn't this pretty lame? I doubt this is a correct way to uv map a geometry
Ответитьunity has shitty unwrapping seriously
ОтветитьMan i hope you reply. So i am building a basic house and its gonna take hours to do this for each face where can i download a cube that has already been mapped?
ОтветитьThis was so damn helpful and not even that hard to do. Thanks so much, man. I'm learning fast.
ОтветитьThank you, this tutorial allowed me (a unity user of less than two weeks) to put die faces on a cube that I can roll around on the plane. Great stuff!
ОтветитьI want to add an area of bruising to my players face. Is there a way I could use this method to do that? I would need the bruising image to be applied to multiple faces on the character.
Is it possible for my skin texture and this bruising texture to co exist?
That's a cool trick! I installed Unity's ProBuilder (Package Manager), which gives me a model editor so I can select the faces that way.
