Dawn, we bought our young boys those bath toys for Christmas after watching a video of yours where you said how much your kids have loved them. They have made bath time so fun and easy, we trashed all our other bath toys in favor of these. As a mom I love that they don’t mold and can be put in the dishwasher to clean. I did an amazing thing the other day. I had $100’s of dollars of nutrimetics in my bathroom that I hadn’t used, I brought them back in June 2023.
I looked at them and thought I’ve got to get rid of them but they cost a lot of money but I’m not going to use them but the money I’ve spent! . These are the arguments a recovering hoarder goes through.
So I contacted my friend who I went to the party with and asked her if she wanted them.
She said you sure, Yep because if you don’t take them I’m going to donate them. She gratefully took them and I now have less in my bathroom.
Dawn because of you I’m learning to let go of things that were for yrs I would have kept.

One thing that’s helped me is to focus on using things up, one at a time. I tend to get bored if I buy the really big bottle of a hair are or body care product. In the past I’d buy the big one bc it’s so economical and you’re running to the store less (per se). But then I’d see a different product and buy it bc it was fun and I was bored of the half used one at home. Now I buy the small one and no backups. I grocery shop every week anyway so if Im close to running out, I’ll be at the store in a few days anyway.

On the white bins…aesthetics help make a space calm as much as decluttering to me. It doesn’t bother me if food and toiletries are not uniform but I did replace a few permanent things, like mis matched drawer liners, etc and it has been so worth it.

Unfortunately if a bin is not labeled, nobody else knows what is supposed to go in the bin. I keep telling my husband match like with like, but his like is vastly different than what I consider the same.

Cookie dough is usually edible, especially if you make it yourself. That is because it is made with baking powder. It does contain raw eggs, so there is that. The pre-made dough has a greater chance of contamination, especially because it may have been in the grocery store fridge for quite a while. It is my understanding that bread dough, which contains yeast, should not be eaten raw as the live yeast isn't good for yo. OTOH, we are learning so much more about the gut microbiome and how that works, so, who knows, they may change that advisory.

We were the type that ate the dough… until we weren’t. Violent vomiting, weakness and dehydration with severe stomach cramps changed us. 🤪

This has nothing to do with bathrooms, but just want to say: I have been following your method for 2.5 years now and today my 5-year-old son randomly told me: “I actually like it better now that we have less toys.” He followed up with, “but there is one piece I need back from Grandma’s house.” Love that he is feeling the benefits of decluttering and now knows EXACTLY which toys he has AND where to find them. ❤

I am a total cookie dough eater! I love Kimberly Wads phrase "Salmonella, I dare you"! I probably get more complacent with our medicines/cold remedies than most anything else! I let it go until it's overflowing and spilling out, then I go through it and most of it will be half used, but expired. My husband and one of my kiddos are sticklers about expiration dates. If it's past the date, it doesn't exist to them. Me and my other child take it as a suggestion. Haha

I bought a med and large bin from Ikea to see what fits now. The large bin is my use me first bin in the freezer. When I moved recently I found 3 open bags of chicken nuggets.🤦‍♀️ The small one holds mayo mustard salad dressing and other frequently used condiments in the frig. It's a start.🤣

I’m the kind who will eat cookie dough even if not recommended. Unsure if the flour has salmonella concerns? But as far as egg ingredients go I grew up drinking eggs. There are things to watch there but yes if fresh and right away and not from one unclean area to the next it’s probably fine.

Dawn- meds should not be kept in the bathroom that has a shower or tub that are used all the time. The humidity and heat is bad for them

I don’t care for one second if the package says I should eat the raw cookie dough or not. I’m definitely eating it. Sometimes, my cookie dough doesn’t even make it to the oven. Thanks for another great video. My decluttering/organizing/maintaining is a work in progress, but I am so happy to have found you right before Christmas last year. You basically saved my life!

Always ate raw cookie dough but now I'm more cautious. I buy the Pilsbury chocolate chip cookie in the package. Sometimes it never makes it to the oven. Lol. I loved the green bathroom bins but I'm glad you got ones that make you happy. One tip- When I open a lotion, condiment, or medicine, I take a sharpie and write the expiration date larger and on the label or lid as they tend to rub off and get hard to see. I am close to minimalist with skin care. Dove beauty bar & bodywash, Native products and shampoo/conditioner in seasonal scents are my treat, Oil of Olay regenerist face scrub & the original Oil of Olay face cream. I get compliments on my skin and how young I look for my age. It's really more about what we put into our bodies and getting enough sleep. We really don't need all those products. Just marketing.

How often do you have to declutter your organizing containers? I can never find the right containers. So now I have a big tote that is an organizer for my organizing containers.

I do not know anyone who has ever gotten sick from raw cookie dough. I eat it!

Gotta Admit it Dawn, I was one who thought "Really?" about changing green containers for white. But then when I saw them, I loved it! LOL It IS brighter and easier to see the items. I've been watching you for years and still picking up tips. :D

Sue Wolfe- To make it easier, I used a sharpie marker on the lid of each medication so I could tell at a glance the expiration date. Then, I take the expired ones to a pharmacy for proper disposal. I don't want to put them in the land or water supply. I also do this with prescription medication. 👌👍❤️❤️

I can never remember when my skincare a beauty products expire, even though they have the 6M or 12M on the bottle! Sometimes it only says it on the box. I started writing with sharpie on the bottom the expiration date from when I open the product! It’s been a game changer for me!

You should never eat anything with raw flour! That is why the package says, do not eat! Don’t play games with your health!

Google "chickpea cookie dough". It cannot be baked, but is designed to eat cold. Made from chickpeas, nut butter and a few other healthy things mixed in a food processor. Tastes just like cookie dough.

Think about decluttering those jeans. You are not 12 years old anymore. They look ridiculous on you. Either cut the legs to make them into Capris or shorts, or trash them.
